3 months in Krung Thep—the (other) City of Angels—come to an end. But all the beautiful images, bright smiles, friendly wais, delicious plates, genuine laughs, and countless MoBs (moments of bliss) will stay with me for a long time. At least until my next trip to BANGKOK, which definitely needs to happen in the not-so-distant future… for more of that sweet sabai sabai. ✨✨✨
Little side note: Krung Thep is just the short name for Bangkok. The full name is:
Krung Thep Maha Nakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayutthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Phiman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit
—meaning: “City of angels, great city of immortals, magnificent city of the nine gems, seat of the king, city of royal palaces, home of gods incarnate, erected by Vishvakarman at Indra’s behest.”
Go long or go home I guess…
This is my little love letter to LA, my chosen home since 2002. Even though I’m currently on the other side of the globe, my heart is still back home—thinking about the city’s future, worrying about my loved ones, and feeling for the countless Angelenos who are dealing with the aftermath of the worst fires we’ve ever seen.
LA can drive you up the wall, no question. It can be frustrating like a trip to the DMV, maddening like rush hour gridlock on the 405, draining like a September heatwave, and downright bananas like the rental market. But at its heart, this city is a total keeper. It’s eclectic, diverse, warm, artistic, layered, innovative, resilient, vibrant and full of opportunity, all wrapped in some of the most breathtaking Californian beauty.
In this so-called “superficial” city, I’ve met some of the most genuine, loyal and incredible people who’ve become acquaintances, friends, family. It’s the place where I’ve struggled and thrived, laughed and cried, hustled and played for over two decades and it’s home.
I’m holding on to hope for LA, for the people and places that make it what it is and I know our city will rise again—stronger, more resilient, and united! ❤️
Forever one of my soul places with my soul people. Buckeye Farms is where an unruly German teenager landed, terrible English skills and an ‘inappropriate wardrobe’ for the South. Betsy and Billy still adopted me as their fourth daughter and I couldn’t be more proud of that title. Soooo much ❤️ and 🙏 for my American family!!!
Tbilisi, Georgia - came with no particular expectation, left smitten. A safe, buzzing, polite, visual, delicious Eurasian city bridging Europe with the Middle East. Here people really seem to care for the city’s many stray cats and dogs and free pet food is available in parts of the city. Old and new, Soviet era and modern industrial architecture, traditional and international cuisine… everything merges in a fascinating way. Georgia is a country that seems mostly critical of Russia and pro-Ukraine, keen to join the EU and in identity more European than expected. If you’re looking for a destination that isn’t overrun (yet), Tbilisi and actually all of Georgia should make it on your list. ✨
Tbilisi - Georgia. If you haven’t considered this Eurasian country as a destination before, think again and see what’s so special about this place. The link in our bio will get you straight to our latest entry about Tbilisi! Enjoy! #tbilisi #tiflis #georgia
My recent hiking trip to the Dolomites brought up a number of questions about the specific hikes, accommodation, etc. Instead of answering them individually, a new ‘Journal’ post just went up in which I share all the details of my trip for further inspiration. Head to the Journal section of your site 3 Days* by clicking the link in our bio. Happy Hiking, peeps ⛰️ 🥾💚🌲✨
Little photo dump from the other week… 3 Days* and 3 Hikes* in the Dolomites. Spectacular vistas, overdue friendship time, dicey paths, sore muscles, happy soul. And the only reason I was still able to walk on Day 4 were the sauna/cold plunge routines at @cyprianerhof_dolomit_resort . Highly recommend, if you’re looking for a little escape to the mountains. And if you’re curious about the specific hikes on Latemar, Geissler and Rosengarten peaks, send a DM. ⛰️ 🥾
I love making movies and can’t imagine a different career path. But… it certainly isn’t glamorous until the very last moment, when the film hits the red carpet and theaters. Until then, every production I have ever worked on has come with sweat, exhaustion, frustration and sacrifices. But also with new friendships, creative collaborations, growth, inspiration and joy… and all of this was true for the latest one as well. GIRL YOU KNOW IT’S TRUE! It was a tough, rewarding, fun, demanding and fulfilling ride that I’m immensely grateful for. My deepest respect for @simonverhoeven_official and @wiedemann_und_berg who are the masterminds behind this film. There are too many others to name and it’s too hard to know where to draw the line, but I hope all of you who made such an impact on this journey know who you are. From pre to post production and beyond. A colossal Thank You… I’m really proud of our work. 🫶🏼
A few memories from this year’s @risefestival in the Mojave Desert… 40,000(biodegradable) lanterns simultaneously lifting off into the night sky with messages of joy and sorrow, loss and love were such a powerful sight and everyone’s intentionality around the event was pretty remarkable. Highly recommend, esp if @emmitfenn is performing! ✨✨✨ @heatherbell__@margiebaybee@findnoe
