Back before rap music became an industry and prior to the younger generations referring to hip hop as a genre and not a culture, you had the founding elements which were on display in abundance at the @thatyardthing in Manchester last Sunday. Shout out to @blunt_shank and all of the others who pulled together a fantastic free day for the hip hop community 🙌 Of course, it wouldn’t have been possible without all those across the generations who gathered en masse throughout the day from Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, a couple from Nottingham 🙄 & beyond!🫡. Wicked DJ sets from @tommy_p_nuts @jamiegroovement & Ana May @blunt_shank & local Manchester & music industry legend Johnny Jay @jjcreate808 all playing records as we used to call them👌Big thanks to all of the b-boys & b-girls on the floor allowing me to self indulge in spinning the b-boy breaks for my set and the likes of @bboylitefoot @jago.616 etc. supporting & guiding the younger guys coming through. Thanks also @we_are_bepo for the workout on percussion 😮‍💨😂and all of the others for the stalls. Food & drinks. Brilliant venue and sound system also👌 Can’t wait for the next one 👊

World DMC Champion, Leicesters adopted son and all round nice guy @jon1st last night at @thebasementpresentsmusic . I struggle to comprehend the level of dedication and skill required to get to his level manipulating the Rane as an instrument with the 1988 DMC World final at the Albert Hall with Cash Money being the last event I attended. Loved the interview and probing questions from @fostermarlonfoster and really interesting hearing his musical introduction from a different time as well as world travelling as a DJ and production stories🙌 How do you follow that? Well I dropped his latest track on 45 💣😎

Heading down to Leicester on Saturday 23rd May with the @official_th3 boys and the crates to spin the 🔥old school hip hop alongside the wicked @djmarkskiog at the @fibreleicester studio warehouse. @official_th3 will be having a pop up vinyl store so if you caught it at @crate_____ on Record store day, you know what to expect 👌.
