Today would have been Glenn Winuk’s 65th birthday. 🤍 He was an attorney, volunteer firefighter, EMT, and one of the inspirations behind 9/11 Day. On September 11, 2001, Glenn ran toward the South Tower — doing exactly what he had always done: showing up for others. With David Paine, Glenn’s brother Jay co-founded 9/11 Day in honor of Glenn and all the other victims, turning unimaginable loss into a national movement of service and remembrance. Today, tens of millions of Americans honor the day by doing the same. Swipe to learn his story ➡️

Every day, firefighters run toward the very thing everyone else is running from. On #internationalfirefightersday, we honor that commitment and the people who dedicate their lives to protecting others, often at great personal sacrifice. Brazilian street artist Eduardo Kobra captured that truth in “The Braves of 9/11”, a seven-story mural in Midtown with 343 written on the helmet, honoring every firefighter lost that day. It’s a spirit we know well. At 9/11 Day, we believe that one of the most powerful tributes is action — showing up, serving others, and committing to leave the world better than we found it. To every firefighter out there: thank you 🚒🤍

9/11 wasn’t just an American tragedy. It was a global one. Our co-founder Jay Winuk, his wife Carolyn Winuk, and 9/11 Day Ambassador @caitl719 had the honor of meeting King Charles III and Queen Camilla at the 9/11 Memorial yesterday — alongside families of victims, first responders, and elected leaders including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and New York Governor Kathy Hochul. 67 British nationals were killed on September 11 — the second highest loss of any country after the United States. “Their Majesties’ visiting is a chance for us to elevate that around the world,” said 9/11 Memorial & Museum CEO Elizabeth L. Hillman, “as we try to make sure people who are too young to remember 9/11 realize what happened that day.” As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, moments like this remind us why the work of honoring that day belongs to all of us. No matter where we are in the world. At 9/11 Day, we’re working to honor those we lost and transform this anniversary into the largest single day of service in American history. Sometimes the internet delivers exactly what we need — a reminder that there is so much good in the world 💛 This week at the Boston Marathon, two strangers stopped their own race to carry a fellow runner across the finish line. No hesitation. No second thought. Just people lifting each other up... literally. This is the kind of spirit that drives everything we do at 9/11 Day. Link in bio to learn how you can be part of the largest nationwide day of service this September.

It’s #NationalVolunteerWeek, and we’re celebrating the only way we know how — with proof that volunteering is actually a really good time. Every September 11, thousands of people across the country show up to pack meals, find community, and honor those we lost through acts of service. And not for nothing, they have a blast doing it. This year we’re taking it up a notch and expanding to 50 cities to pack over 20 million+ meals. But it’s not just meal packs, there are so many ways to give back. Head to the link in bio to learn more about how we’re working to make this year’s 25th anniversary of 9/11 the biggest national day of service in the country.
