Raptor & SHO I guess I like 3.5L EcoBoosts🤷🏻♂️ Improved Racing 185 thermostat/bypass installed, made my hoses. I had a too cold problem now temps are acting normal and heating up towards that target 180-200. Rain ruined my full test but data looks good. Fan doesn’t drop trans temp anymore. 4th Revision base map from @tunedbyryan feeling responsive and synced with the transmission. Hoping to go WOT Thursday when the weather improves. No more codes, electrical system is better than ever. Sorting this car has been difficult, the initial rpm bump for idle only masked the electrical symptoms bc it increased the alternator output as a bandaid + engine break-in shield …it always drove fine not going too hard. I think it’s where it was supposed to be now …700 miles or so later 20 months of head scratching is hopefully over. Only one way to find out #ford #ecoboost #taurussho #awdarmy #megatron
Since the car is almost sorted I was able to really focus diagnosing the trans temp. It’s been cold. Well after about an hour I was max 140 degrees. I had a too cold problem before but it is a new transmission thermostat bypass valve, I gave it the benefit of the doubt initially. Well, it’s a faulty new unit. I’m flowing to the cooler about 100%. Even idling at 140 degrees it dropped down to 130 in 5 min with my Mishimoto fan going. Improved Racing 185 bypass valve on the way. Going to reuse the hard lines and do 1/2” tube to -10AN conversion. Will finally get the temp under control, fast warmup and keep it right where it belongs, 180-200 for maximum transmission performance. Then I can finally lean on it to get 93 octane (my base fuel) dialed in for the first time. When I started this journey this deep into a build like this I was not well prepared for any issues that might arise. Today I know exactly what I’m doing and why. Grounds were insulated and subframes were insulated from the unibody. Rookie mistake. Getting ready for a diagnostic test drive with power 100% restored. All contact surfaces are sanded to bare metal as well as the contact side of each ground strap is stripped/refreshed. I’ll finish my install of both subframe to unibody bridge cables and Saturday has the test weather. Preparing the car for Battle of the Top Ranked V6 EcoBoost platforms.

I’ve been sorting this car for 700 miles and I think I learned its language…some new stuff coming and finally I think it’s ready to get leaned on. Commissioning this car has been an eye opener but It’ll be so worth it in the end.

I went all in with this. Not much left to do except drop the subframe, drop the transmission and swap in the stage 3 converter and get it on the road! I’m thinking late March the roads might be good enough for a test day data log. This is more exciting than ever. Last year I still needed to do break-in, this year I go straight to driving it. I’m still on the base map from Ryan Martin @EMS . Ryan will start with the most finished version of this car. It hasn’t been this complete since 2020. This is the refinement and power stage.
