Well that’s it for another year!
2025 brought us 2 locations, fistfuls of pop ups, hundreds of plates and people served, cascades of wines, barrels of laughs and we met some fantastic people who have become staunch supporters and regulars.
May 2026 bring more of the same, just with a drop more madness, I’ll be working on recipes during the next couple of months too.
If you’d like to suggest some dishes or maybe even loosely themed nights, you never know, I might throw a couple in the line up!

@8.plates x @fortheheretics 💛 Well this was a fun and interesting pop up - a different crowd than I’m used to and a fascinating bunch of people to talk to.
Was great to meet Gareth from @fortheheretics who are for sure one of the most interesting English wine producers right now. Got to try the full range, all of which were lovely - and took a few bottles home, even better!
The food by @realmarklloyd showed lots of great technique and interesting, responsibly and well sourced ingredients. Some lovely flavour combos in here - the bitter sea buckthorn with the rich dark chocolate cremeux was very very good and Mark is definitely a great person to talk to, dropping in great bits of industry knowledge and demystify some ‘cheffy’ stuff so we could better understand our meal.
Definitely a rowdier evening than I was expecting, but then again should have with lots of great wine flowing! I have to say that @destination105westbridgford is a stunning venue too - I can only hope to come here more often in the future!

Last Friday we attended @8.plates by @realmarklloyd , and it was a particularly special evening as it was also a collaboration with @fortheheretics
The event was hosted at @destination105ladybay in Lady Bay, which is a great space — set inside a church with modern interiors meeting classic architecture. It made for a perfect, low-lit and cozy environment for such a fun tasting menu experience.
We were immediately greeted with a glass of The Heretics Chardonnay and given a brief introduction to their history. They’re relatively new to the wine scene but already making a big name for themselves, being stocked in high-end restaurants and prestigious shops like Selfridges. It’s clear their hard work and passion is paying off, and their attitude towards showing off the quality English wine can achieve was evident in all the wines we got to try.
The evening felt very relaxed and friendly. We had some great conversations with our fellow attendees, and the whole experience felt like a supper club rather than a formal or stuffy tasting menu. Mark was often present at the table to discuss and explain the dishes, while Gareth sat opposite to talk wine.
Definitely one to watch if you’re looking for a fun night out in the Nottingham area, and I’ll hopefully be lucky enough to attend another 8 Plates again in the new year!

There’s nothing new under the sun.
Some things just work and I unashamedly nicked this from my time in Sweden, working for and with a team of outstanding cooks.
Then tweaked it.
Veal sweetbreads, onion confit, crispy Hen of the woods, Luxardo cherries, a reduction sauce similar to a buerre blanc but enriched with ethical Foie Gras from @foieroyale and finished with a bright parsley oil and some pink pickled shallots.
Lots of people this weekend had never tried Sweetbreads and this dish converted them!

Potato, celeriac and summer truffle terrine, served with our Ex dairy cow and Wagyu tongue pie plus a splash of rich beef bone sauce.
I even walk around the table and top up your sauce needs.
