Happy New Year! I would like to thank you for your support during the past year and extend my best wishes for the New Year. In 2021, I have participated in many exhibitions, including “Broken Nature” at MoMA in New York, “Fiction Life” at Contemporary Culture Lab in Taipei, El Aleph Festival in Mexico City, Microwave International New Media Arts Festival and deTour Festival in Hong Kong, and ALTERNATIVE KYOTO in Kyoto. In particular, at the deTour Festival held in Hong Kong in December, I collaborated with the architectural firm Napp Studio & Architects to create a new large-scale installation "Red Silk of Fate - The Shrine" which was featured as the centerpiece of the exhibition. Details of the work can be found here (https://detour.hk/2021/en/exhibition/red-silk-of-fate-the-shrine/) (I also posted the video of the installation here) In October, the NFT of my work "Moonwalk Machine-Selena's Step" was sold for the highest price in Japan's first NFT auction held by SBI (/article/DGXZQOUD08AC70Y1A101C2000000/). I’m very interested in the potential of NFT and Web 3.0, and I’m planning to participate in many more NFT-related projects this year. In addition, I appeared as an interviewer for the NHK Special "2030: A Fork in the Road to the Future," which is a series of documentary shows looking at the futures of biotechnology and artificial intelligence, and the program was published as a book (/article/DGXKZO72119590R20C21A5TY5000/) in the Nikkei Newspaper and being involved in the activities of the D&I Foundation, which was launched by Shintaro Yamada, CEO of Mercari, to support female students to go on to higher education in the sciences. On a personal note, I gave birth to a baby daughter in mid-September. It’s been a wonderful experience for me and my husband. Most of our personal time is now spent on raising our child. Wishing you a joyous 2022! Sputniko!

Sputniko!’s “Drone in Search for a Four-Leaf Clover” will be featured in the exhibition “Utopia. The Right to Hope” at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg @kunstmuseumwolfsburg , opening tomorrow. Rather than proposing a single “grand design” for the future, this exhibition turns its gaze toward diverse micro-utopias—small-scale visions of hope—that together suggest new possibilities for building more equitable and fulfilling ways of life for all. Dates: September 27, 2025 – January 11, 2026 Venue: Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, Germany 🔗 More details via the link in bio の《Drone in Search for a Four-Leaf Clover》が、明日よりドイツ・ヴォルフスブルク美術館で開幕する展覧会 「Utopia. 【M+ Collection】 I am excited to share that my 2010 work, Menstruation Machine - Takashi’s Take has been acquired by the M+ Museum in Hong Kong, to become part of their permanent collection. M+, which opened in 2021, is Asia's leading contemporary art museum, comparable in size and collection scale to MoMA or the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The museum has an exceptionally talented team of curators from around the world, and I’m thrilled that my important piece has become part of M+’s collection. Sputniko!

URLはこちら(有料会員限定) /article/DGXZQOUD165QO0W6A310C2000000/ #nikkei

Venue: KJØPMANNSGATA UNG KUNST META.MORF 2026: Future Manifestos is Scandinavia’s largest biennial dedicated to art and technology, held in Trondheim, Norway. The biennial presents projects at the intersection of art, science, and social transformation, with a strong emphasis on curatorial research and international collaboration. This year’s theme, Future Manifestos, asks not whether AI will shape the future, but how humans and AI will shape it together - and who, or what, will determine its direction. Drawing on the tradition of the “manifesto” as a tool long used by thinkers, the exhibition explores how artists might reclaim the agency to declare and articulate possible futures.

Tech-Bro-Debates-Humanity #metamorf_biennale #sputniko

2026】From March 27 to 29, my video installation “Can I Believe in a Fortunate Tomorrow?” will be presented at the KOTARO NUKAGA (@kotaro_nukaga ) booth at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026(@artbasel ) The work draws on saiun - iridescent clouds that appear near the sun and are often regarded in Asia as a symbol of good fortune. Using AI, moving images of clouds are analyzed and overlaid with prismatic light effects, generating continuous iterations of this phenomenon. Presented under the booth’s theme of “Light,” the work explores the dual nature of technology in shaping the future: as a source of hope, yet equally capable of producing illusion. As a simulated phenomenon, it reflects on the inherent ambiguity of the future itself - something to believe in, yet also something that may dissolve before our eyes. Event Details Event: Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 Dates: March 27–29, 2026 Venue: Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre Booth: 3E07 (KOTARO NUKAGA) 🔗 More details via the link /hong-kong

今週末、3月27日から29日まで開催されるArt Basel Hong Kong 2026にて、KOTARO NUKAGAのブースで映像作品「Can I Believe in a Fortunate Tomorrow?」 【開催概要】 ART BASEL Hong Kong 2026 開催期間: 2026年3月27日~2026年3月29日 会場: Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre ブース No: 3E07 (KOTARO NUKAGA) 🔗 ART BASEL Hong Kong 2026の詳細 /hong-kong

On March 6, ahead of International Women’s Day, I had the pleasure of joining the panel "CARTIER DIALOGUES – WOMEN LIGHTING THE PATH." I was honored to share the stage with Norika Fujiwara, Kodo Nishimura, and Hiroaki Miyata, with Keiko Kojima as our moderator. In the panel, we reflected on the event held at the Women’s Pavilion at Expo Osaka, centered on the theme of togetherness, and spoke about the importance of human connection in moving our cause forward. Thank you to the Cartier team and everyone who joined us✨❤️ 3月6日、国際女性デーに先駆け開催された「CARTIER DIALOGUES - WOMEN LIGHTING THE PATH」のパネルに参加しました。

Artist Highlight: Sputniko! “For me, good art is art that changes ideas, changes perspectives or changes society even.” We came across @5putniko !’s work many years ago, at a moment when media art was beginning to openly collide with questions of gender, power, and technology. From the start, her practice stood out for its conceptual clarity, courage, and wit. It has been a real pleasure to work with her over time and to show her work, watching how consistently and fearlessly she pushes conversations forward. Sputniko! is a British/Japanese multimedia artist whose practice critically examines feminism, gender politics, and social power structures through technology-based art. Working across film, music, speculative design, and machine-driven installations, she uses irony and parody as precise tools - disarming viewers while exposing deeply embedded social norms. Her works don’t shout - they infiltrate, quietly changing how you see the world. She studied mathematics and computer science, where she became aware of the strong gender imbalance in tech culture. Growing up in Japan, where gender inequality remains high, further shaped her interest in how technology, institutions, and everyday systems reinforce inequality. Drawing on Japanese pop music and anime, she often adopts the format of music videos to reach audiences beyond the art world. In her earlier work, she focused on making invisible systems visible, especially where bodies, gender, access, and power intersect - later expanding toward nature, biotechnology, and questions of care, repair, and responsibility. More recently, she has increasingly worked with generative systems and AI, reflecting on time, growth, and the futures we collectively imagine. Alongside her artistic practice, she also occasionally speaks at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
