52 Frames week 20: Meaningful Location . . .
“ Hill Top Beacon ”
Winter Hill is the place I’ve chosen as my meaningful location. It’s distinctive in the Northwest of England as it’s the site of the analogue TV mast that broadcast service to the region until the it became digital some years ago.
For me, when I lived for many years in the south of the country, it was a sight that made me realise I hadn’t got too far left to drive when visiting my family back home.
Now, by somewhat of a coincidence, I live just a walk away from its summit and It’s one of my favourite local places. Over the years, the mast has been joined by mobile masts, but it remains the only one illuminated at night, as a warning to aircraft.
For people who live ‘in the shadow of the hill’ it’s a beacon and important part of the collective psyche. In 1896 it witnessed a mass trespass by local working class people objecting to the wealthy landowner’s plans to restrict access and use the land for private hunting. Working long hours six days a week in mills and factories, the locals absolutely valued their access to nature, as much as we do today.
Even further back in history than that, it’s been home to neolithic people, as remains have been found in several places.
I took several shots including one just before sunset with some lovely pink clouds, but I really wanted to choose one with the lights on (which happens twenty minutes or so after sunset), as that’s the most iconic view, in my opinion, so I went for this blue hour one instead.

This weekend’s weather breathed a little life back into us and inspired my submission for this week’s @52frames theme: meaningful place.
Because what’s more meaningful than a place you built with your own hands? A place where swings and sunsets coexist, bare feet stay dirty, and summer evenings linger just a little longer than they should. Where the soundtrack is kids laughing somewhere in the background and you suddenly realize these are the days they’ll talk about when they’re grown.
Time flies by and nature takes everything back.
Völklinger Hütte at it's best ❤️
Looking at my photos from this amazing day (more to come) I think I can say I have a soft spot for old trains. I might not ever be one to dive into old models and numbers and so but I definitely enjoy some good old Engineering work. These machines were for work, heavy, durable, proper Engineering art.

52Frames Week 20 | Meaningful Location 🏠
If I never had to leave this place, I'd be perfectly okay with that.
I photograph Dogwood dogs and cats here as often as I can — my backyard and outdoor studio is home base for so much of it. This week the schedules just wouldn't line up for a new adoption session, so I did the next best thing: an adoption update, right here where it all happens, with my neighbor's girl Mellie.
Mellie — short for Melody — came home to our neighbors after being returned to Dogwood not once, but twice. And that is what I love so much about Dogwood — they never give up until they find the very best home for their dogs and cats. Some things are just meant to be, and she ended up with the best family who absolutely adores her. I had actually photographed two of her brothers for their Dogwood adoption photos, but somehow never got to meet her — so when I invited her over it felt long overdue. She brought her brother Wooley along for the fun, and between the two of them there was no shortage of personality.
This space is my whole heart. The big cork oak that anchors the yard. The shade garden. The open field where the See Me Fly magic happens. And my outdoor studio — designed from the ground up for exactly this — rocks, tree stumps, beautiful blooms, and light that makes dogs look like the royalty they are.
Every dog and cat who steps into this space brings something with them. Sometimes joy, sometimes curiosity, sometimes a little uncertainty — but always magic. And the ones who live here — my Blonde Brigade — they fill it with the kind of love that makes a place feel like home in the deepest sense.
Home. Family. Dogs who find their way to exactly where they belong. There's nothing more meaningful than that. 🐾🌿

52frames weekly challenge
week 20: Meaningful Location
..
..
In this challenge I wanted to share my favorite landscape of the city I’m currently at, Guadalajara.
I’ve always found this view overwhelming and powerful: the old cathedral surrounded by impressive architecture.
I also wanted to share my favorite activity: via recreativa: On Sundays morning main roads are closed to allow people to perform activities such as walking, jogging, biking, skating, etc. and I love to participate on these activities alongside my dog.
This was today’s view.

Week 20 - Meaningful Location
“ Dad’s game; the 6th hole ”
I grew up living opposite Sutton Park, and whenever my Gran would visit, we would often sit on this bench with a picnic and watch the golfers from @suttoncoldfieldgolfclub play their round and wait for my Dad to make his way around the course himself. He’d often stop and have a cup of tea with us before continuing on with his game... since my Gran’s passing, this spot is always where we leave a wreath for her at Christmas and now it is also a place that i like to come to remember my Dad as well as her. It is such a beautiful and peaceful spot and somewhere that will always hold a special place in my heart.

52 Frames - Week 20, Meaningful Location
“ The Studio ”
One of the most truly joyful and meaningful locations for me is in the studio running workshops, teaching and working with some truly creative and talented people. Today was one of those days in the studio running a Geisha Inspired Workshop with a group of photographers. I love the planning, the details working with hair and makeup artists and seeing my vision come to life, to me that is so meaningful and completes me.

Crossing the diagonal
Was pretty lucky to have these two ladies cross at the right time and spot. Spotted them walking from afar and waited with bated breath, finger on the shutter.
Shot with #omsystem EM5.3 and the 17mmf1.8. Was walking around taking photos for #52frames_shootfromabove way back in 2022.

confession: I was more motivated to finally catch a sunrise than anything BUT graduation week inspired me to acknowledge how meaningful this campus is generally for so many who do and will forever love @notredame and while I did not attend the university, I see daily how special this place is to so many
