“I Want To Be A Good Person Because I Have A Big Heart But I Don’t Know How”
Oil and Acrylic on Canvas, 2026
Installed at my first solo exhibition this past weekend!!
We’re so excited to present “Portraits for those who float”: a solo exhibition of new work by Oakland based painter, Lucia Aguilar.
“My work travels the space between body and consciousness, a living tether to and from the material and the spirit.
Consciousness is both trapped inside the body and floating. Peering at it from the outside. I call on others with one foot in the spirit world to join me.
The spirit can leave the body but still uses its eyes to see - how strong is the tether?”
“Portraits for those who float” is part of CHERUB WORLD— an art opening/vendor market/live music event at Rayko in SF. The works will be on view for one day only: April 4th from 2-10PM. Vendor market goes from 2-6, music from 6-10. The event is free before 5 PM, $10 after 5 PM. All ages, tickets at the door. See you there!
