BREAKING NEWS 🔥⚡️ Today we’re launching The Great Power Shift campaign because evidence demands action, not just awareness. Over US$600 billion will flow from ordinary people to oil and gas companies this year, just as extra cost from the oil and gas price spikes. 👀 Renewable energy is already cheaper. Communities from Brazil 🇧🇷to the Philippines 🇵🇭 are proving that alternative works. The question is no longer whether we can afford to transition. It’s whether we can afford NOT TO! It’s time for a shift, The Great Power Shift ⚡️, link in bio #TheGreatPowerShift #OutOfPocket #WePayTheyProfit #FossilFuelPhaseOut #350org

The fossil fuel industry costs every person on Earth $1,400 a year and pays almost nothing back. 350.org's new #OutOfPocket report reveals the real price of fossil fuel dependence: $12 trillion flows to the industry annually in subsidies and unpaid climate damages. That's nearly 100x total global climate finance. Ordinary people pay three times over: through taxes, price shocks and climate disasters. The industry profits from the crisis it created. This week, the Santa Marta conference is where the fossil fuel age stops being debated and starts being dismantled. This report is evidence that makes walking away from that table inexcusable. We’ve all watched climate disasters unfold from what felt like a safe distance. But there is no safe distance now. And while Big Oil profits from your rising bills, your flooded streets, your evacuated communities — the people most responsible keep pointing the finger at everything but themselves. Here’s what history actually tells us: every unjust system has looked permanent and untouchable until ordinary people refused to accept it. They organized. Others joined them. They didn’t stop. And the world changed. Their names are written into the story of what changed. So are ours , if we choose it. Climate change isn’t something you just watch. It’s something we can act on, together. 350.org is uniting people across the world to demand fast, affordable renewable energy and hold the corporations destroying our future accountable. Watch the video. Share it. Contribute as you can. Join us. #TheGreatPowerShift

If you've opened an insurance bill lately and felt your stomach drop, you're not alone. People across the world are seeing their home, auto, and health insurance premiums spiking. More still are underinsured or without insurance altogether - the recent California wildfires saw fire insurance providers exiting, leaving many with no options at all. This comes as extreme weather events wreak damage on communities, leaving them to rebuild out of pocket. It's clearly proven that extreme weather events are driven by fossil fuel pollution... the culprits of which are aligned with insurers, through investment and underwriting. The solutions are here - and widely supported. Governments need to tax polluters, end fossil fuel subsidies, and accelerate the shift to affordable, renewable energy. They won't do that if we don't push for it. Join in the fight for the clean transition: for your planet, for your community. And, quite honestly, for your bank account.

Yesterday, President Trump arrived in Beijing for a state visit with President Xi. They lead the world's largest economies - but the people who make up those economies were not a topic of interest for the presidents. As Americans struggle to afford necessities, Trump brought an entourage of CEOs including Elon Musk. While so many lives have been lost because of a senseless war in Iran, Xi showed off his nation's military. They're for profits. We're for people. Governments and corporations won't give us the affordable, renewable-powered future that we deserve - unless we fight for it.

Last week, the people of İkizköy village in Milas, Türkiye achieved a historic legal milestone. @ikizkoy.direniyor The Council of State issued a stay of execution against the "urgent expropriation" of 190 parcels of land surrounding the Akbelen Forest. This means that the land will no longer be used for expanding coal mines, as YK Enerji had intended. But this legal victory is about more than stopping trees from coming down. Olive oil production is an economic vehicle for locals, and has more staying power than coal production. While this legal precedent is cause for celebration, it's not the end of the road. Türkiye will host COP31 in Antalya later this year - to lead effectively, the government must focus their efforts on a just transition to affordable, renewable energy.

Yesterday, we asked for your help in getting @roland.lescure 's attention. ICYMI he's the finance minister for France, which holds the G7 presidency and sets the agenda. He's set to lead a major meeting next Monday that doesn't have windfall taxes or ending fossil fuel subsidies on the agenda. So we asked people to comment on his recent posts to demand their addition. And you didn't disappoint! There's still 5 days until the G7 finance ministers' meeting, which means there's still a lot of time to leave a comment on his posts. Copy + paste one from the link in our bio, or write your own. @roland.lescure - it's time to listen to the people.

Next Monday, May 18, the G7 finance ministers meet. Windfall taxes and ending subsidies for fossil fuels aren't on the agenda - but we can actually change that. France holds the G7 presidency so the man of the hour will be @roland.lescure Luckily for us, he's very active online - so let's meet him there. Visit the link in our bio to copy and paste a comment (or write your own) and leave them on his recent posts. We have up until the 18th to get his attention! Let's use this opportunity: tell the G7 finance ministers that the best thing for them to invest in is a future without fossil fuels.

On Sunday, Aramco reported US$32.5 billion in Q1 profits - numbers inflated by the war in South West Asia (Middle East). At the same time, lives are being taken by the conflict and people everywhere are struggling to have access to most basic needs. We pay as prices spike - and that becomes their revenue. This needs to change.

On April 30th, we launched our latest campaign - The Great Power Shift. We asked you to demand from governments that they ensure affordable renewable energy for all. And around the world, people showed up and showed out. Now we have to keep that momentum going: let's again take a look at what this campaign is all about.

Unearned. Unethical. Indefensible. 🏛️📈 Shell’s latest earnings of $6.92bn shine a light on an industry that thrives during global scarcity. While corporations pocket windfall gains from geopolitical conflict, the financial sector continues to pump billions into the source of the climate crisis. Our message to governments is unified: 1️⃣ Implement progressive Polluter Pays taxation. 2️⃣ Redirect subsidies into local green workforces. 3️⃣ Hold the financial sector accountable for funding destruction. Governments face a clear choice: let these corporations get away with it, or make them pay their fair share to fund a just and equitable transition. @350org @actionaiduk @theodettecase @tippingpointuk @glasgowactions #ClimateFinance #JustTransition #Sustainability #EconomicJustice #MakePollutersPay
