33 - Tripolar ~(SPCTR022)~ is out now ~
A spontaneous assemblage of experimental non-rock. The project, now a four-piece band composed of founders Bill John Bultheel and Alexander Iezzi alongside new additions Cem Dukkha and Ivan Cheng, channels the most disparate influences into uncanny ritualistic songs punctuated by estranged pop melodies.
Baroque and postindustrial, acoustic and electronic, 33’s exploration transcends genre and age. Without being a concept album, 33’s second full-lenghth comes with a loose thematic thread of mental health and its ramifications. Ranging from an expressionist depiction of ADHD in the opener, to a queer-themed reinvention of an Irish murder ballad in the closing track.
Featuring vocal contributions from the likes of Astrid Sonne, Olan Monk, Lord Spikeheart and Golin, Tripolar sounds esoteric in the best possible way: progressively revealing layer after layer of incredible aural magic.
