Earlier this year, I had the chance to build the generative AI pipeline behind
@wedgwood ’s award-winning Jasper250 project — a global design competition by Wedgwood and XXII Studio that reimagined the brand’s iconic Jasperware through AI.
The project was featured in major outlets like the Financial Times and went on to win a
@thelovieawards Award in the category AI & Immersive: Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle, alongside work from Gucci, Moët Hennessy, Otrium, CNN, Niantic, and agencies such as DEPT®, Monks, VCCP, Serviceplan Group, and 4creatives.
The core challenge:
How do you let anyone co-create with a 250-year-old heritage brand while staying true to its design DNA?
My approach:
I developed a generative AI pipeline that captures the sculptural forms, motifs, and color language that define Wedgwood’s aesthetic, giving people the ability to create something new that still feels unmistakably Wedgwood.
The entire system was built in #comfyui . I created a fully open-source pipeline using custom nodes, multiple ControlNets, and IPAdapters, then optimized and deployed it on a cloud GPU infrastructure.
The competition culminated in selecting a winning generation, which was then 3D printed and showcased at the V&A Wedgwood Collection.
I meticulously hand-modeled the winning vase using #zbrush , #houdini , and #substancepainter before it was produced by #stratasys . It’s now part of the
@vamuseum ’s Wedgwood Collection.
Still a bit surreal knowing that something I helped create is now sitting in a museum — and will be there for generations.
Huge thanks to everyone involved, especially
@assaf_reeb and XXII Studio, for the trust and collaboration.
