âAl Shifa Hospitalâ, Gaza, Palestine
By Alfred Drew, 2026
This model is an interpretation of one of the buildings that made up the biggest hospital in Palestine. The hospital became a centre for the internally displaced to take refuge with tens of thousands of people there at one time. It was protected under international humanitarian law (Geneva Conventions) yet the Israel Defence Forces attacked and bombed it twice turning the hospital into a mass grave where hundreds of people were found dead and thousands injured.
The model is designed to shed light on the situation and give you an insight into a tiny percentage of the mass destruction.
Made from 3D printed PLA with plaster and acrylic paint layered on top. Mounted onto MDF board.
âHe who wantsâ
By Alfred Drew and Felix Preston, 2026
The German quote - âWer will dass die welt so bleibt wie sie ist der will nicht dass sie bleibtâ - Translates to - âHe who wants the world to remain as it is doesnât want it to remain at allâ. The phrase was originally by Austrian poet Erich Fried, however the German artist Joseph Beuys adopted this quote and used it in murals in public. On a trip to Berlin, Felix photographed the mural of this quote on the Berlin Wall and it resonated with him. On the same trip he photographed The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, this being the image used. The piece represents change through the imagery, depth and colours. The raised letters represent change being the right way forward.
Made from edited film photography, laser cut with pins and foam board.
