one time i went to 7-eleven (the one by the art building at uic for those who want specifics) and the man working the register asked me if i wanted to play connect the dots and i was like… “um with what” and he said “with our freckles” and i still haven’t decided if i’m creeped out or flattered by that. probably both. anyway, the last pic made me remember that interaction for whatever reason and yes i was crying in that pic. that’s why my eyes are sparkling. 😻✨ another cashier at that same 7-eleven (i went there a lot because i practically lived in my studio senior year) always referred to me as “MJ” because he said i looked like zendaya in spiderman… ykw. sure. hell yeah! anyway i think crash is my favorite charli xcx album and i got to see her perform it at lolla in 2022 #iamsoooup

i can count on one hand how many times i’ve been picked for selects, so imagine my reaction when it happened during @ian_eastwood of all people’s class (some of you do not have to imagine because i was made aware you all saw thank you very much 💀) . astonished to say the least! and freaking out because i felt so lost that entire class (genuinely wanted to ask him if he actually watched me cause if he did he would not have picked me LOL) but anyway, this experience solidified the one thing i need to focus on most in my dance journey at the moment and that’s simply slowing down and BREATHING. i always get so caught up on the pace and what i “can’t” do that i often forget what i can do. i knew i knew the dance and i knew it was fast and that the only thing that would get me through this (on top of the anxiety of being in a group of idk 7 in a room with hundreds of dancers) was taking a deep breath and trusting myself. this is the end result! i’m not entirely satisfied with my performance and you can see the mistakes, but i’m at least learning to smile through them now, rather than berate myself for making them. at the end of the day, no matter how serious one may take it, it’s just dance thank you @revealdancechicago @monyettc for providing a space in which i am not as scared to be seen <3 *i do not own any rights to this music*

3rd reveal in the books ✨ each year it gets more and more special. i’m so grateful to be able to attend and to be able to experience the shared energy between every dancer in the room- beginner to professional alike. the community link is the one place i feel like i grow the most at and i am forever grateful for the space to do that. it was so nice seeing new and old faces, and i am so excited for next year. unfortunately, because i like to hide in the back, i don’t have any videos except one that i am debating whether or not to post, but these photos encapsulate some of the joy and love of those 5 days <3 thank you @revealdancechicago @monyettc for making dance fun again 💫 📸 @chloealexisham
