Some customers become more than just orders in a queue. They become part of the reason you stay hungry to create in the first place.
@2a_triggerman has been one of those people from the start. One of the rare few who always seems to come with ideas that line up perfectly with the kind of work I love doing…dark, aggressive, custom pieces with enough room to actually push the artwork somewhere interesting. Safe to say he’ll always have a spot somewhere in my books or a project halfway alive on the bench. This pair was a good example of that.
The sheath carries a mean mako shark composition built around the blade itself, lined up so the artwork bleeds directly into the physical knife once it’s seated in place. The whole piece was built to feel connected instead of separate…like the knife was meant to live there. Paired it with oxblood tones, sharp contrast, and enough bite to make the whole thing feel alive.
The second piece is a replica of his
@davranov mask, fully hand carved and tooled before having the most minute of details laser engraved into a leather sling pad and finally backed with lambs wool. Heavy texture, layered depth, and the kind of project that reminds me why I’ll never do cookie-cutter production work.
These are the projects I genuinely enjoy doing. The ones where trust gets handed over and I get to disappear into the artwork for a while. Huge thanks to Matt for always coming back and letting me build pieces like this. Loyalty never goes unnoticed.
