Opening speeches from “Ukrainian Modern and Contemporary Art Show” in @24rtgallery .
Exhibition curator Mykola Zinchenko @auctionist and Consul of Ukraine in Edinburgh Andrii Kuslii.
Highlights from “Ukrainian Modern and Contemporary art show” exhibition opening. Thanks to the support of Ukrainian Consulate in Edinburgh, ICC Rotary Ukraine-Great Britain and gallery founders we made it possible.
A special focus of the exhibition is dedicated to portraits of the defenders of Azovstal, created by artist Vladyslav Shereshevsky. We emphasized that this section of the exhibition aims to draw international attention to the issue of prisoners of war. “We must remember the Ukrainian soldiers who are still held captive by the enemy and do everything possible to ensure their swift return home to their families.”
It is a final stage of preparation process for “Ukraine Modern and Contemporary Art Show” in @24rtgallery . The artworks are on the walls, almost everything is labeled, art cards designed and printed, the show is on the website and personalized invitations are sent. What left is to put a wine in the glasses, let it breathe and welcome beloved gallery visitors.
This time I combine all the roles being involved in whole the process of setting up the exhibition. I have enjoyed being a producer, manager and curator of the show.
It’s a lot of work, and I know how to do it. By the way it’s the last show for the gallery in this venue on Portland Place 24. We will be relocating, I’m excited about new projects and will keep you updated. Thanks!

20 June 2024

🧳 What is the meaning of a suitcase? For many it is an association with joy to travel, to explore the world, to discover new experiences. The most important it is to choose to go somewhere.
• When life doesn’t provide a choice, a suitcase becomes a different kind of memory. Our displaced artists had to pack their entire life into their suitcases over night and leave with no looking back.
• Portable Dreams was a special to our hearts showcase to complement our launch party. We had 10 displaced Ukrainian artists opening up their true stories sharing their personal belongings and artwork created out of real pain. No one suitcase was the same but there was something that united them all - the taste for life and a dream to be able to create regardless monstrous circumstances.
• Special thanks to the @24rtgallery for shared vision and a beautiful space for the Portable Dreams exhibition.
• Huge thanks to our exhibiting artists
