A Million Acts of Hope is about shining a light on what’s good in the world - and you don’t have to look very far. Last week, I met Floyd, a youth worker at @caxton_youthclub . He’s quietly doing amazing things, helping young people with learning disabilities and autism gain the skills and confidence to go out and thrive.
Our country can feel so divided at times. But in a world where the news is too full of what’s bad, Floyd, and all the people like him give me hope. So, thank you Floyd - for doing small acts every day that make an extraordinary difference.

Can we talk about hope for a moment? Because I know it can feel like there isn’t much hope out there. But then you discover organisations like West Bowling Youth Initiative, and everything changes.
I picked up the phone to them last week and they showed me that hate might be loud - but hope is everywhere. They work with young people who are at risk, getting them outdoors, teaching them new skills, and enjoying nature together - they even showed me around the beautiful community garden they’re building with the support of @thewildlifetrusts
This is hope in action, and it’s exactly what A Million Acts of Hope is all about: shining a light on the people and places that are quietly creating change every single day. Across the UK right now, people are quietly doing extraordinary things for one another - for their neighbours, their communities, total strangers - choosing hope over hate.
For one week this May (13–20th), we’re bringing hope into the open. Because hope is often quiet - it doesn’t make headlines. But it’s right outside our doors. It’s what brings us together.

Week of 11th May saw much to celebrate as sanctuary seekers and local residents came together to learn, relax and connect.
144 people attended our 5 Welcome Hubs, friends, service users, volunteers, RWNS staff and partner agencies.
40 welcome meals shared
24 learners attended English classes
28 people received casework support, including move‑on preparation, tenancy support, and help meeting health needs
12 adventurers joined our wellbeing walk around Sand Bay
10 sanctuary seekers and local residents joined a lively drumming circle, with an impromptu singing solo
8 women enjoyed a relaxing sound bath with Wild Heart Wellbeing
1 work experience placement completed - top marks for all!

This week we’re highlighting the gorgeous things happening in our community as part of the A Million Acts of Hope campaign.
Last week, eight women joined a sound bath session with Wild Heart Wellbeing at NST Community Hub, part of our wellbeing project that brings sanctuary seekers and local residents together to relax and connect.

We joined the 1million acts of hope campaign today and created art and zines about Hope at SCW today. At HFTN we made badges, played Scrabble and lots more creative drawing and story writing! Thanks for another fun weekend everyone!!
