Echosystems ‘Solar EP’ is out now 🌞 🎶
@echosystemuk@makandpasteman ‘These tracks came together in our York studio, a narrow room we call “the bobsled.” Everything was built hands on, jamming hardware, reshaping ideas and chasing movement until the tracks felt alive. We wanted the melodic parts to sit front and centre without losing the weight and energy needed for the club. There’s a reflective side to the EP, but it’s still very much built for the dancefloor. Big love to Dusky and the 17 Steps team for backing this next chapter and giving these records a home’
@echosystemuk land on Dusky’s 17 Steps with the Solar EP, showcasing their forward thinking, emotive sound.
The tracks were built in their York studio, a tight space they call “the bobsled,” and you can feel that hands on approach throughout. Hardware driven, full of movement and texture, with melodic elements sitting forward while still carrying enough weight for the club. There’s a reflective edge, but it never loses sight of the dancefloor.
Mak & Pasteman’s roots go back to the early 2010s, and that foundation is still there. After some time away, this new chapter alongside Arkive feels more dialled in. Recent releases on Realm and their own Midas imprint have pointed this way, with more coming on Shall Not Fade. Dusky’s backing feels like a natural next step.
The Solar EP lands on 17 Steps on 8th May. Pre-save link in bio 🔗
Banchan’s ‘Mahogany EP’ is out today 🎶
@banchanmusic ; ‘I finished these tracks while living in Brighton last year, fully immersed in the UK sound and spending an unreasonable amount of time in the studio refining every detail. The title track actually started years ago as a loose nod to Dusky’s “Cedar,” but after endless iterations it evolved into something completely its own, so it only felt right to name it after a different kind of wood. Dusky tested a stack of demos during their open-to-close at Patterns and these were the ones that connected most in the room. Huge thanks to Dusky and the 17 Steps team for believing in it!’
This one hits right in the feels. I discovered Dusky back in 2011 through their ‘Stick By This’ album, which is still an absolute masterpiece. As a Chicago-born producer and DJ, I’ve been rinsing their music in my sets for over a decade and have played direct support for them multiple times in the city. It feels surreal to finally say my debut four-track EP ‘Mahogany’ is coming out on their label, 17 Steps, on 20/02.
The tracks were finished while I was living in Brighton last year, during a period of change that reshaped how I approach both music and life.

Bing Bong / Push Up On That - out now 🪩
@heyjamesjuk ; “This release feels extremely full-circle for me; one of the first DJ sets I ever saw was Dusky in Buenos Aires in 2018. That experience was one of the reasons I became a DJ, so I’m incredibly grateful to release on their label! Both of these songs were born from a desire to make some especially club-friendly tracks suited for a variety of dancefloors.”
We hope you enjoy this release much as we do!!
Our brand new 4 track E.P. “Tales from the Power Hour” is out today 🚨
These were a blast to make. We wanted the 4 tracks to represent four different sides of the music we’re enjoying making and playing in our DJ sets recently. Manticore is a 140bpm melodic, bass heavy, rave inspired number with an Electro twist. Percy Veering is a vocal house jam that harks back to some of the earliest Dusky tracks, while Heart Trance Plant is our most explicitly trance-influenced track to date, inspired by mid-90s trance artists like Cygnus X. Finally, Strong Tackle takes influence from Acid Techno and various 00s UK techno strains. All 4 have been well and truly tried and tested on the dance-floor and have earned the seal of approval from crowds at our recent shows.

Very excited to introduce @heyjamesjuke to 17 Steps with ‘Bing Bong / Push Up On That’ - out 06.02 🪩
James is a trusted NYC tastemaker, known for his knowledge of house music and refined curation. His quarterly Brooklyn party series, The Jukeboxx, has become a destination for dancers, DJs, and heads, reinforcing his role within the city’s underground ecosystem.
Both tracks were written with the club in mind- functional, groove-driven house records that work across intimate underground rooms and larger dancefloors. Rooted in disco, soul, and classic house, the sound feels nostalgic yet forward-facing, aligning with contemporary house and underground editorial lanes.
Thanks to everybody who’s been streaming and buying this one, “Our Love” is the 2nd track from our Lord of the Ring Roads EP.
“Our Love” is a tribute to classic house, started on a laptop on a flight to the USA, and later finessed in the Dusky studio, though it was one of those ones where it felt like it wrote itself in that nothing much changed from the original sketch. It’s part classic Chicago house, part New Jersey, but also has elements of the UK garage-adjacent house we used to hear on pirate radio growing up.
On that note, a short story part. 2:
LORD OF THE RING ROADS: THE TWO TOWER BLOCKS
Bilbo tightens the final screw of the new radio transmitter on top of the second tower block. He smiles - The Shire finally had a pirate radio station. He does a celebratory shuffle but a misplaced step back and suddenly he slips. He falls several floors until Gandalf saves the day riding a giant pigeon. A quick text on the Nokia to Frodo who turns on the radio in his flat the other side of the valley. Coming through loud and clear! Precious FM 107.2 finally live. Old Skool? Nazgûl? No, strictly House music. House of Gondor 24/7. Last few bars of “Battle For Middle You” and then Dusky’s “Our Love” comes on. B3 organ stabs cutting through the traffic noise. Their work here is done.
Very excited to announce our “Lord of the Ring Roads” EP is out today! Been hammering these ones in our DJ sets all over Middle Earth.
LORD OF THE RING ROADS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RAVE, a short story:
The sodium streetlights reflected in the dashboard of Bilbo’s battered Vauxhall Astra. Frodo gripped the dog-eared “Handy Road Atlas of Great Britain” tightly, the wind from the broken passenger side window fluttering the pages. SQ80 and M1 Pianos crackled on the radio. There had been many roads on this journey. One does not simply walk into a rave. Still they searched. A warning light flashed. Fuel tank nearly empty. 40 miles from home. A long way from the Shire. The last junction approached.
Suddenly they heard the sound system, the sweet subharmonic frequencies mixing with the breakbeats. This was it, the rave of all raves. The final rave. Cast it into the fire they said. But first, one last dance. Lasers piercing the sky. Big fish little fish cardboard box. What’s your name and what you on. Never come down. Hardcore will never die. Pianos and more pianos. Pure Euphoria. They say ring roads never end. It’s true. One ring road to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them.
‘Space Becomes The Mirror’ the second single from SYEYL’s ‘Mental Sunshine’ EP is a fusion of abstract vocal textures, ethereal synths, a driving bass-line and experimental grooves.
This track is about how emptiness can hold meaning - in life or relationships.
In the absence of distraction or noise, space can reveal itself. In stillness, you see who you truly are - that’s when Space Becomes The Mirror
