She’s been busy gathering lots of bling and beautiful glass and semi precious beads ready to be strung, gathered and twisted into your gorgeous creations. Don’t worry if you have no experience, our Brenda is a pro. She will help and guide you along the way. This Saturday 18th April join the Newcastle Guitar Orchestra in the wonderful setting of @17nineteen for an evening of beautiful Renaissance and Baroque music to celebrate the life of one of our dearest members, Frank McCoy. Music by: Anthony Holborne John Dowland Johann Sigismund Weiss Antonio Vivaldi Johann Sebastian Bach The programme will start with consort music from the time of Queen Elizabeth, including well-loved pieces by John Dowland to celebrate the 400th anniversary of his death. Stuart H WIllis will be our guest soloist of the Lute concerto in C minor by Johann Sigismund Weiss, specially arranged for Lute and guitar orchestra for this performance. We will also play the wonderful Concerto for Two Mandolins by Antonio Vivaldi with soloists Thomas Hunter and Cham Wa Chan, and the Italian Concerto by J.S. Bach. There will be a retiring collection in aid of the QEH Haematology Fund. Doors open at 7pm, when there will be an opportunity to purchase pre-concert drinks. The concert will last about one hour with no interval. Please feel free to join us for drinks afterwards. Today, the iconic image of the red head scarved woman bearing her bicep and proclaiming “We can do it” is beloved by women throughout the world. In fact, many believe it symbolises the drive for equality of opportunity. BUT it doesn’t! In this episode of Crumbs and Chronicles Stuart Miller will tell the true story behind the Rosie image - and hunt for the real Rosie(s) behind the wartime heroine! Schedule: 1pm: Arrive and grab a seat, coffee/tea and scones will be available at the coffee bar. 1:30pm: Lecture begins. Registration and Cost: - Attendance to these lectures is free but we encourage you to make a donation if you’re able. Money raised will go towards future 17Nineteen Society events and to the Churches Conservation Trust towards the management and upkeep of Sunderland’s wonderful Georgian treasure.
