The value of using sprint momentum as a KPI, which is just velocity times body weight Simple but powerful: everyone can compete whether they’re a heavier athlete or trying to put on weight, the leaderboards aren’t just for the small and fast athletes. Although speed is incredibly important, in football there are other ways to measure progress and make training transfer to the field Because when you have a team of 100+ athletes, many different positions, multiple age groups, and 3+ year development plans, you need a way to bring everyone together. And sprint momentum is a great way to do that Insights from @geoffstanford of @louisvillefb

Developing bowlers 🏏 Because bowling faster isn’t just about bowling more, but improving both the specific and general qualities that combine into the end goal From resisted bowling to assisted lead leg blocking to hamstring and core work, next-level performance requires it all Loads 3-6kg for the locomotion and 15-20kg for the strength work 🎥 Videos from @dkruis09

Two athletes can finish a COD test with the same total time but with completely different strategies @icoachfranco of @arizonafootball and @j_p_green built a simple quadrant framework that categorizes COD strategy by top speed or max acceleration vs deceleration time The four archetypes for the 10-0-5 and ADA tests: 1️⃣ Slammer: fast in, hard stop 2️⃣ Striker: slow in, hard stop 3️⃣ Glider: fast in, slow stop 4️⃣ Coaster: slow in, slow stop The point isn’t just to label athletes, but to tell you something that total time never could Because when the data can separate how an athlete moves, not just how fast, coaching decisions get a lot more systematic and intentional

As a coach that has always loved the eccentric and yielding aspect of the sporting landscape - the 1080 unit has been bloody exciting to start to layer into my athletes programs. Having the ability to so accurately overload eccentric segments while unloading concentric actions has been a great progression. Here we can see Lucy doing a basic lateral bound, but using a prep step where the 1080 is pulling her eccentrically at 11kg, and then resisting her bound by only 4kg. #strengthandconditioning #athleticperformance #coaching #sportsrehab #athletedevelopment

Resisted sprinting is one of the most effective tools I use to build acceleration. We use it 1–2x/week, but not all resisted work is the same: • Force outcome: ~30–50% velocity drop • Power outcome: ~10–30% velocity drop Early training phases are mostly force-biased. After that, it depends on how the athlete accelerates, we can’t use a fixed template. The difference isn’t adding resistance. It’s controlling the outputs that the 1080 Sprint 2 can give us. With the Sprint 2 we set the load off target velocity, not feelings. During the session: • If output drops >5–7%, the set is done • If velocities are too stable, load goes up • If they can’t hit targets, load comes down We’re not chasing fatigue but specific outputs, checking the split times can tell us if it transfers. If not, we adjust the next block. #TeamAir #ad
