This fever dream begins with "La leyenda del Coco" an uncanny tale for children, which quickly turns into a female yearning for youth and desire in which in the own words of their protagonist -"Finally i decided to be happy"-. Then, a series of "Hot land fictions" introduces us to a three-channel panorama of cows, mosquitos and sunbeams. Followed by "</3" a one-shot moment where sadness settles in with the promise of becoming something more promising someday. Yet, this doesn't last as rutine, chores and duties turn into "My Own Personal Samsara". After this mantra, tropical visions of tamed lizzards dream about not being a research attraction in "Cocodrile's Nest". This desire goes out of control with "1000 beetles, a fern, a crow" when we encounter a gang of predators who became one with nature as sport. To finally, wake up with a piece of "Primitive Technology" made of a set of sticks and branches that dreams with being a computer. 21.11. 18:00 hrs. FRICCIÓN en XZY Artists: Juan Blanco @juanm_blanco ~pes: Elizabeth Gallón Droste + Pablo Torres Gómez @pespiedra @pablotorresgomez_ @elizabethgallondroste Sebastian Mira @computerdate.y2k Under the name Fricción en XYZ (Friction in XYZ), the works of Juan Blanco, ~pes (Elizabeth Gallón Droste, Pablo Torres Gómez) and a video series curated by Sebastián Mira are brought together. Friction, by definition, is the contact between surfaces; friction creates dynamics between physicalities and materials—the works and the artists—forming strategies of communication, cooperation, and synergy. The installation, sound, visual, and curatorial works brought together in this exhibition seek to create a dialogue where the friction of the landscape ceases to be superficial and becomes a question. A place where the gaze no longer reaches and where the very notion of landscape unravels, revealing the forces—historical, colonial, extractive, even folkloric and contemplative—that have shaped it as something capturable, representable, domesticable. Among the practices, from listening to the land of ~pes, Elizabeth-Pablo, that which murmurs between territories and affections, to the ecologies that beat beneath hegemonic narratives. Juan Blanco’s work explores the tension between images and reality—through diagrams, landscapes, maps, and social media stills—to question notions of objectivity, truth, and representation. Sebastián Mira explores manifestations of landscape in the virtual realm, the relationships between physical and digital spaces, and methods of representing objects, beings, and places through screens. → 21.11. 18:00 hrs. We will be part of 48hrs Neukölln again! Wir wollen für unsere Open Studio Days Fertiges und Unfertiges, Arbeitsansätze, Denkversuche und Arbeitsweisen zeigen – in unserem Ausstellungsraum oder auch direkt am Arbeitsplatz. Die Künstler:Innen vor Ort freuen sich auf Austausch und Gespräche. Freitagabend werden wir mit Musik und Getränken starten, Samstag und Sonntag, den Open Studio Days, sind wir ebenfalls geöffnet und freuen uns über Besuch. For our Open Studio Days, we want to show finished and unfinished works, work approaches, thought experiments and working methods - in our exhibition space or directly at the workplace. The artists on site are looking forward to exchanges and discussions. Friday evening we will start with music and drinks, Saturday and Sunday, the Open Studio Days, we will also be open and look forward to welcoming visitors. WE ARE BACK 🎉 Invitation to our next exhibition (for English, please check the comments) as part of the Sellerie Weekend program (/check-25): Wir laden euch nach einer längeren Phase der Umstrukturierung zurück in unsere kleine Gewerbefläche in Britz. Auch weiterhin suchen wir hier, Seite an Seite, Kopf an Kopf, jeden Quadratzentimeter Platz künstlerisch auszuschöpfen. Die Zeit ist knapp und der Raum ebenso! Die großen Geschichten der Hausbesetzerzeiten, der fliegenden Wohnungswechsel und der endlosen Feiereien in den Ohren, sehen wir uns eher mit unattraktiven Dingen wie Steuerabgaben, Quadratmeter-Preisen und Self-Managment konfrontiert. Wenn sich die Geschichte doch auf unangenehme Art und Weise ständig zu wiederholen scheint, sagt eine leise Stimme im Kopf, könnten dann nicht auch Mal angenehme Dinge zurückkommen? Doch während sich alles im Kreis dreht, scheinen Zeit und Raum ein immer weiter zu schrumpfen. In diesen Zeiten der Unsicherheit, in denen ein*e jede*r mit großen Versprechungen um die Ecke kommt, wollen auch wir nicht zu kurz kommen und Mal wieder das volle Potential unserer vielfältigen Ateliergemeinschaft ausschöpfen. Wir wollen neuen alten Geschichten auf den Grund zu gehen, eigene entwerfen oder einfach innehalten. Dafür laden wir euch ein, trotz Mieten, die sich brav der Inflation anpassen und öffentlichen Geldern, die mit einem Handschwenk im luftleeren Raum verpuffen, das zu tun, was wir am Besten können: sich dem Produktivitätszwang zu widersetzen und gemeinsam zu feiern. TO BLUSH BOND AND CRUMBLY CONCEAL -A polyphonic installation about shame- @101projectspace In TO BLUSH BOND AND CRUMBLY CONCEAL, we invited friends/allies/companions to share the (Un-)secret: to endure the blushing, lowering of eyes, sweating of hands and an urge to escape in the suddenness of being seen and to celebrate failure and process instead.
