We've picked out a whole bunch of stuff to bring in the jack this may day weekend. 70s Psych Folk, Sussex drinking songs, Ewan Mccoll, Italian prog nonsense, Jon Hassell, ambient excursions via Good Morning Tapes and Udacha, beautiful early 2000s acoustic glitch, wonky synthy stuff, dubby bits and bobs from Disques de la Spirale and Pole and my favorite label at the moment Mad Habitat... Loads loads more too... It promises to a be a lot of fun. I'll be getting it going from 5ish... Copenhagen! Coffee, snow, feedback, good people... Had a blast making noise at @torreloft yesterday for the opening night of @forwantofnotmeasuring so many great people, so much great work on show, so much pizza. Thank you @_sarahmcnulty_ @patrickadam_jones and @jimhobbsart for bringing me in on this to make some noise. Such a great space and community of artists. Really enjoyed experimenting and exploring sounds with @steffen_levring and Jim and hopefully we can get together again to go further down the hole, feel like we just scratched the surface! Every now and then you come across something that knocks you off kilter and sets you off on a totally different trajectory... "The same black rectangle emitting the sound of the sea" Being given a copy of Marguerite Duras's La Maladie de la Mort by @jimhobbsart and working on 'Heliotrope & Citron' over the last few months was exactly what I needed. As I get older... or I guess more accurately; as my life has got busier I've found it difficult to get to a place mentally to make things... whether it's noise or music or visual things... but for the first time in a long time I feel like the doors have opened again. I've got lost down the rabbit hole so many times working on this... turns out having a deadline really does work! Really excited to share this work with an audience tonight at @cafeotodalston with Jim and the awesome @movement.with.ting alongside a whole bunch of incredibly talented artists curated by @thethamessubmarine and Contact... if you're around come down, it promises to be a lot fun. ...And I'm equally as excited to get back in the studio and explore these territories some more... NO MUSIC! I would like to think Marguerite would approve of what we've put together for this... it falls somewhere between film, performance, shadowplay, sound, noise and music (which her stage notes strictly forbid) but I think she'd dig it... "I almost wish I hadn't gone down that rabbit-hole—and yet—and yet—it's rather curious, you know, this sort of life!"
