As part of chapter 1 - Desiring Elsewhere, Moving Dicsourse presents RHIP by Ocean Dobree (@0cean.bby ) The work performatively acts to queer the white cube academic landscape through an embodied process of queer messiness. Paint is the vessel and hair, as an extension of the body, is the carrier for these gestures of resistance. The residue, the remains, the energy left behind from RHIP hint to an act that refuses to reveal itself in full luminosity. To RHIP is to break through the boundaries of academic frameworks for success, to mess with the architecture of the space and embrace the inevitability of failure. Watch the performance in the video section of Moving Discourse - link in bio. Segments from ‘Tethered Feedback’ performed by Zhuyang Liu and Ocean at the last OPSIS. Two bodies moving between each other in darkness to create feedback through a wearable speaker jacket. Lit up by momentary flashes of light created by a mounted camera flash. Video filmed by @_archie_whiting and photographs by @flowersburnnng

Introducing our second performance duo for the next ŌPSIS! 🔺🔻🔺🔻 ‘Tethered Feedback’ - Ocean & Zhuyang In this new work, Ocean and Zhuyang use wearable sonic devices to become instruments for feedback through their proximity in space. The audience shares the experience of being held in darkness, invited to re-orient their relationship to sound and comfort. Occasional flashes carve out single-frame exposures—a guitar suspended mid-air, two bodies converging or pulling apart—sound momentarily made visible as perception blurs into vision. This fleeting constellation of glimpses and vibrations questions: how we perceive sound without vision, and what forms of closeness emerge in the dark? @0cean.bby @zhuyangleiu 🔺🔻🔺🔻 🔴 Tickets available through the RA link in our bio, if you need a low income or unwaged ticket please email [email protected]

‘Your silence will not protect you’ - Audre Lorde 1977 These words were first uttered by black queer feminist, activist and poet Audre Lorde in 1977, still today they hold so much potency. To sit back idle in the face of a mass genocide supported by our government and national media is to be complicit in its violence. Choosing not to speak out against injustice or oppression will not shield you from its consequences. As a trans person, whose rights are constantly under attack by the growing fascism in this country it is beyond clear how interlinked all of our struggles are. Even with all the privilege I hold I can see the importance of standing together to fight for everyone’s freedom, right to be who they want to be and to live without fear of violence or lack of access to healthcare or resources. To those who choose not to speak up your silence is heard. For what future are you living for? It is no longer enough for me to see people tolerate me yet remain so silent when my rights are under attack or in the face of a mass genocide and starvation that can only be compared to such tragedies as the persecution of Jews in the Second World War. Whatever platform you have, no matter how big or small, your voice matters. Especially to those white, cis, and otherwise privileged folk out there. Now is the time to ask yourself what does allyship truly look like? Speak up for us and those in need. Thankyou to London Trans+ pride for showing me what true community care and love looks like <3 Our future is in the hands of those who dare to see beyond the bounds of what lies in front of them.

🔴 OPSIS is back! Thursday 31/07! 🔴 ὄψις @opsis.ldn 1900 - 0000 RA 🔶️🔸️🔶️🔸️🔶️🔸️ OPSIS is a programme dedicated to experimental movement artists and body based performance. Creating space for emerging and established artists take risks, share new work and challenge a new audience. 🔶️🔸️🔶️🔸️🔶️🔸️ LINEUP 🔻Tough Boys Tough Boys will share an extract from their new work, an auto-fictional duet that grapples with faith, loneliness and juvenile hunger. Absorbed into a self-sustaining world, the audience will see Roseann and Sula move fluently between voice and partnering based in practicality, honesty and trust. @toughboysdanceco 🔻 Mahika Gautam A live solo performance about facism and propaganda in India, exploring how the visual language of Hindu rites and rituals has been corrupted. The performance plays with lighting and sound design, as well as experimental projection and news videos, to immerse the audience in a space where reality and appearance merge. @wwaysofseeing 🔻 PETRICHOR & FLOWFINCH This piece is concerned with the feeling of being in a body; engaging a sinister kind of femininity to respond to the violent undercurrents present in the dynamic of being watched as a performer. In doing so it seeks to grapple with power imbalances while navigating the sharp edges and turmoil of femme existence. @_petri.ch0r_ @finchy973 🔻Camille Boukobza Joins us for an improvised performance building upon themes old & new w/ music by OCEAN @0cean.bby & Anubu @anubu.12 --- Don't miss it!
