We were appointed by the fantastic people at SPUD, an arts and education charity that creates opportunities for people to engage with art, architecture, design, and the environment, to help design their new The Living Room project.
In their own words: “Our ultimate aim is to create a dedicated space to enable creative collaborations with our diverse community, particularly older people and those living with dementia and their families/carers. The Living Room will be a modest structure built on the site of an old water tower in the grounds of spudWORKS, creating a private, warm, and secure environment. We it to be a source of happiness and enjoyment, that makes communities feel valued, part of something that enriches their world.”
The entire superstructure was designed in timber, making it cost effective and sustainable. This was achieved with close collaboration with both the contractor and architect.
Here are some shots of the project during its constriction. The Living Room is almost complete and ready to be opened in mid-October. Keep an eye out for some finished photos very soon!
