“Maceo had this idea to shoot during Nourouz, which is the Kurdish New Year celebration. The idea was to capture the older generation passing the cultural and spiritual torch over to the younger generation. It was very documentary style, still super planed but shot in a way where most of the magic happened when people didn’t know we were filming. We were running around in Akre filming the dancing and tea scenes during that day, but remember it’s New Year’s Eve so it’s people everywhere and total chaos.” - Robin Asselmeyer, cinematographer
