Estelle Hoy and Zora Mann have produced an impactful and wistful consideration of the power of and relationships between silence, inspiration, loss, and heritage.
The writer and art critic Hoy composes a poetic and vivid description of an artist’s visit to her family’s seaside home, while the visual artist, Mann, punctuates the writing with etchings that articulate the world of prose. With elegant prose, Hoy describes the process of observation transmuting into an artistic work. With psychedelic imagery, Mann expresses the experience of the creative process, the confrontation with generational legacy, and the fall into disappointment.
Together, these two art forms build the world of the main character as she seeks inspiration.
