Ian Buchanan, originally hails from Fairfax, California. He danced professionally all over North America for over 18 years for different ballet companies, including Smuin Contemporary Ballet, Alberta Ballet and Oregon Ballet Theatre, to name a few. He now is a software engineer residing in San Francisco and helps run a non-profit “Fully Tactile Art SF”. He likes getting lost in Golden Gate Park and wants a dog!
Join us in celebrating Company Artist Ian Buchanan, who will be stepping away from the Smuin Ballet stage. Ian joined Smuin Contemporary Ballet in 2018 and has since then brought strength, technique, and versatility to the stage. Buchanan was a key player in keeping the company creative during the pandemic, and also helped with the design of our new website! Catch his final shows of the season all across the Bay Area during Dance Series 2, or come with us to New York City as takes his final bow during our stay at the Joyce Theater!
