Not my normal post. A lot of my friends know about my health struggles with chronic pain; many don't also know that I've have PTSD from it and the hellscape I endured at the hands of the medical professionals.
My life used to be completely ruled by pain, and the echos of trauma from what caused it and the headache I've dealt with from the medical system. Without doctors failing me, I'd probably not be in pain on a daily basis and would arguebly have a much better quality of life.
It's be normal for me to have a pain flair; then go into a PTSD episode immediately after. With several flares a month when things were at their worst... It was my life for months at a time.
Years of that add up; years of suffering my nervous system endured. Physical and emotional hurt I'm still healing from.
Im 'lucky' that pain flares are less common(learning to live with it) and am better at dealing with them when they do happen... But still, it's been hard to fully heal from, and almost like clockwork I have a PTSD episode after/during. Those too are getting better, and I'm more aware of them.
This past week though has been rough; not so much from pain, but, having to deal with a situation at a Drs office that broke me a bit and an experience I hope no other person has to endure at a Drs office. It's hard to talk about, but ultimately brought up a lot of feelings and itself caused a pretty severe PTSD episode for me that I've been spending days mentally crawling out of.
It has overall gotten so much better, along with how I deal with and manage my chronic pain; and for that I'm thankful. Though idk if I'll ever be free from the echos of it, physically, or mentally.
I will keep pushing forward, and I hope on the days I can't see the light those on my life will be there to shine it for me, and help guide my path back.
To everyone that has been there for me through those times. Thank you. I hope there is a day I wont need help finding my way back.
