Now I finally have the chance to share my main piece I created for Cxltura. This one is titled “What’s a King Without His People?” If you’re a Vinland fan you may recognize the design. If you’re a Linkin Park fan you may recognize the phrase. I finished 16 of those small mirror squares I’ve been sharing to prepare for this project. I was determined to execute this piece to the best of my ability since learning mirror engraving. Now this may be one of my top favorite things I’ve created. This is also my first time selling a piece within a gallery exhibit so that’s a pretty cool bonus. If you’re interested in having your own engraved mirror please let me know and let’s make it happen! 6 days, 26 hours later, this mural is finally finished. Funny thing is I didn’t even sign up to do this, my girlfriend @alexissmariaa_ actually signed me up without knowing and I only had 24 hours to prepare. But at the end of the day I’m really glad she did, she gave me that push I needed to get out my artist block. Yesterday morning I checked my emails and was blessed to be informed that I’m officially a licensed tattoo artist! (They would give me my licenses on Cinco de Mayo) Thank you so much to my mentor @surreal.tattoo for giving me a shot and allowing me to join the @surrealtattoostudio family. As he always says, “We’re forever students.” And with that, I will always soak up as much knowledge and game as I can from him and every other artists I cross paths with. Another big thank you to @tattoodinkc for connecting me with my mentor and for always having my back the entire journey so far. A true brother honestly. Of course huge shout out to my wife @alexissmariaa_ for always riding with me through whatever goals I strive for. Your patience, support, and love never go unnoticed. Truly couldn’t do it without her. Lastly, but most importantly. Thank you to all my friends, family, and new clients that allowed me to tattoo you all during my apprenticeship, because of y’all I’ve done 80 tattoos so far. That’s major trust and love. “Señor Rivera” A piece dedicated to my abuelo and his love for payasos.
