May is an amazing time in the vineyard. Everything is growing and lusciously green. Everyday it looks different because it’s changing so fast! The vines actually grow a quarter to a half inch a day, sprouting crazily in different directions with leaves, tendrils and clusters of grapes growing in places we don’t want them to be. To produce the best fruit possible, we have to redirect the vines’ energy to the grape clusters at the bottom. We do this by strategically trimming and pruning away the excess green parts of the vines. This focuses the energy on the grapes we want to thrive, making them the quality fruit we need to make excellent wine. In a couple of weeks, it’ll be time for another trim, and we’ll have to tame the crazy again! It’s an important and constant process! P.S. This Saturday, May 9, we have the perfect event to enjoy with your mom - or other friends and family on a beautiful weekend! We've partnered with Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for an exclusive special event in the intimate setting of our Barrel Room. This curated experience features generous pours of four selected wines, each expertly paired with a handcrafted chocolate truffle to elevate and enhance the unique flavor profiles of both. During this 45-minute guided session, you’ll explore the rich history of our winery and our wines as well as the craft and artistry behind the chocolate, gaining insight into the science of the perfect pairing. Make a day of it! Enjoy live music across the vineyard from 1 - 4 p.m. and seasonal bites from the Z Bistro food truck. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory will also be on-site with a selection of their most popular confections. We’re opening our beautiful Barrel Room from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for an exclusive, all-you-can-eat brunch experience. You’ll enjoy early access to the vineyard and an included glass of your favorite wine alongside a scratch-made feast by Chef Erick Ponce and the Z Bistro team. From homemade focaccia and goat cheese balls to strawberry banana pancake bites and savory charcuterie, it’s the perfect way to show your appreciation. Charcuterie Delights: Bruschetta, olive tapenade, artisan cheeses, and cured meats. Bistro Favorites: Freshly baked focaccia, goat cheese balls, savory egg bites and traditional deviled-eggs.
