⠀

-------------------------------------------------------
This exhibition begins by recalling the lives of marginalized beings who have remained outside the sphere of human attention. The exhibition title, Super Trouper, refers to a powerful follow spotlight used in large concert halls or stadiums to intensely illuminate a specific subject.
⠀
The artist directs the spotlight not onto the protagonist at the center of the stage, but rather onto endangered animals, stray dogs in the city, and those marginalized within society.
⠀
The gorillas, dogs, and nameless beings that pass by in the works only reveal themselves to us through light. Here, light functions as a device of perception that makes visible the beings we have turned away from, and as an ethical gaze that compels us to confront the lives of the others. Super Trouper ultimately poses a fundamental question to us.
⠀
What is illuminated, and what still remains in the dark? Whom have we truly seen up until now, and whom have we passed by without ever noticing?

The Survivor Called Super Trouper
02.05.2026 – 16.08.2026
SAVINA Museum of Contemporary Art
93 Jingwan 1-ro, Eunpyeong District, Seoul, South Korea
“The Survivor Called Super Trouper” marks Zilla Leutenegger’s first exhibition in Seoul and in Asia, presenting a broad panorama of her work from the past two decades. The SAVINA Museum gives Zilla Leutenegger the exceptional opportunity to occupy both floors of the museum.
The exhibition brings together new productions, earlier works, and a constellation of video installations characteristic of her practice. Working in close dialogue with the architecture of the museum, her drawing-based work unfolds across walls and galleries with immediacy and a vivid, assertive line.
Animal figures, whether mythological, familiar, or endangered, form a central element of the exhibition. Cats, gorillas, whales, and dogs appear and disappear within drawn settings. Through these figures, Leutenegger evokes themes of vulnerability, endurance, and fragile survival, inviting viewers to reflect on beings that persist at the edge of disappearance, visible yet already ghostlike in our collective imagination.

Today, we celebrate the birthday of Zilla Leutenegger! 🥂✨
With her distinctive visual language, Zilla Leutenegger moves effortlessly between drawing, video, and installation, capturing the subtle poetry of everyday life. Her work,at the intersection of figure, space, and light, invites us into quiet, intimate moments that linger far beyond their simplicity.
From her early explorations to her expanding use of monotype, ceramics, and architectural interventions, Zilla continues to push the boundaries of her practice. Each line, projection, and composition reflects a delicate balance between spontaneity and precision, revealing layers that unfold over time.
Today we celebrate not only her singular artistic voice but also her ability, whether through projected animations layered onto drawings or large-scale installations, to capture the delicate tension between spontaneity and construction, revealing the unseen complexity behind seemingly simple gestures.
Happy Birthday, Zilla! 🎉

Tick-tock, tick-tock – time, softly unfolding. Echoing the quiet sensibility of @zilla_leutenegger – where atmosphere, stillness, and the overlooked gently manifest themselves – and each second becomes something to feel.
Leutenegger's "L'heure bleue" captures the fleeting moment between day and night when light softens and shadows dissolve. With every audible click, it lingers just a little longer.
As these moments pass, the exhibition "Plein soleil" draws quietly to a close. On view only until April 4, the immersive installations and monotypes invite you to one last moment of quiet attention.
