DEFI WING 2026 IS ON FIRE AND SO ARE WE š„
What a start in Gruissan, France!
After taking Race 1, @nico_spanu and @zfoils WINGFOIL kept the momentum:
Race 2: P2 by the narrowest of margins
Race 3: BACK TO P1 š
That is 1st - 2nd - 1st after two days of racing. An extremely tight second place shows just how dialed this setup is.
Nicoló:
āYesterday I used the 5.5 with the front 430 in both races. The wind was very gusty: in the first race there was light wind with some pretty strong gusts, while in the second race it started off very strong and I struggled a bit, especially because I was using the 5.5 while the others were on 5.0s or even 4.5s. Then the wind dropped slightly, I managed to recover, push at my best, and win the race. In the end, I got a first and a second place. Weāll see how it goes today, but for the overall result Iād rather wait until the last races before talking about the final standingsā
Consistency is king at DEFI. And this 5.5m² + 430cm² combo is proving it.
Massive thanks to @defiwing for hosting the worldās wildest wingfoil marathon.

Congratulations to @nico_spanu on his Defi Wing 2026 victory āļøšš„
Our team sees great potential in the recently started cooperation and everyone else has to be ready for the next results! šŖ
It all seems so incredible to us: 658 competitors, one competitor with ZFOIL and he dominates this competition by a large margin!
A lot has been asked about Nicoās equipment:
As for the foil, he used a Z FREERACE foil, 430cm2 front wing, 160cm2 rear wing. Instead of a standard mast, a slightly stiffer and better 108 cm UHM RACE MAST was used*
* The mast and fuselage mounts are the same on the RACE foil and FREERACE foil. Anyone can add a RACE mast to their freerace foil.

World Champion šš š„š„
After a long 10 days, I can finally call myself World Champion in the foil speed discipline.
Itās hard to describe what this feels like after so many hours of training, testing, and working closely with the brands to make this happen. Seeing all that work come together makes this title extra special.
Congratz to @nico.f465 and @cyril_evrard250 for completing the podium
And ofcourss a thank you to everyone involved in this journey, and especially to the organisation and @pos_worldspeedtour for making this event possible and for all the hard work behind the scenes.
This is only the beginning š

š The racing season finally kicked off! And I couldnāt be more happy...
World Championships in Leucate/France are underway and we already finished the first foil race.
The last seasons have been mentally tough for me in foil competitions. From winning my first PWA race on the foil down to barely finishing TOP20.
Going into the last event in Japan November last year, I knew I wonāt perform well, but I went to finish the season. It was so demotivating. š
It wouldāve been the easiest for me to say ābye-byeā to foiling after last season, but I decided that I didnāt want to leave it at that.
I hardly spent time on the foil this winter and didnāt get a proper race training, so coming back to the race course was almost a bit scary.
During the winter @zfoils stepped in, I tried their foil (we made a YouTube Video about it) and ultimately I decided to race on it this season.
Stoked to make the move from a test to a true partnership. Thanks for the trust Herki and Timo. š«”
š Today we finished Race 1 in super light wind, where I managed to finish 5th.
I still need to spend a lot more time on the foil to get 100% confidence, but itās great to feel competitive again.
For now itās just one race - and surely the ride will continue to go up- and down. But I hope I can slowly build the momentum again.
I definitely prefer when itās 20 knots fin action, but I can now enjoy the foil racing again - even in 8 knots. š
The new @jp_australia_com 85 HF Slalom and @neilpryde_wind Flight Evo are a great combo with the Foil.

How to adjust rear wing angle on windfoil?
Adjusting the rear wing angle on awindfoil is a useful skill that allows you to increase or decrease the foilās lift.
As a result, the foilās wind range increases, and often thereās no need to change the front wing when wind conditions change. Also correct angle adds stability. Here is an explanatory diagram showing how to do it correctly.

Stoked to try out the new @zfoils PWA race foil!! š¦
A full review of my experience is now on my YouTube Channel⦠āļøBut in short: the glide through the water was something else. Very stiff, so feels super controllable on the reach and in the jibes. Great how they managed to pair that with a very competitive price point. In the last years almost everyone in competitions had switch to Patrik foils, because they were most competitive.
šø However, the price of it made competitive race foiling less accessible. Still an expensive sport, but a good step in the right direction by @zfoils - paired with reduced registered quiver at @pwaworldtour . Timo and Herki from Z-Foils are very passionate innovators. More about that and also my personal foil journey over the last years now on YouTube!
For those reasons we also decided to offer the @zfoils at @surfcenter_com !! Reach out if you have any more questions š¤
