📹 Biz de ‘Tuhaf Saçma Neyse' isimli bir deneme-film yaptık. Filmimiz 2022’den bu yana Gezi davasından cezaevinde bulunan arkadaşımız, sinemacı Çiğdem Mater’in yokluğunu çıkış noktası olarak alıyor. // We made a video essay titled 'Weird Absurd Whatever.' Our video takes as its point of departure the absence of our friend, filmmaker Çiğdem Mater, imprisoned since 2022 as one of the Gezi trial defendants.

🚙 Bilenler bilir; Dodge Charger takıntım sinema takıntıma eş sayılabilir 💘 Yeni Hollywood dönemi filmleri olan Vanishing Point, Bullitt, Dirty Mary Crazy Larry gibi klasik car chase’lerle kendimden geçerek başlayan bir sinema sevgisi. Bu filmlerde araba takip sahnelerinde kolay kolay müzik olmaz, bazen 10 dakika motor sesi dinlersiniz. Arabanın motor sesiyle projeksiyonun motor sesini kafamda eşleyen bir sinema tutkunu olarak Dodge Charger’ın kalbimde özel bir yeri oldu. Death Proof da bu eşsiz arabayı yeniden perdeye taşımıştı. Geçen gün kendisiyle tanışmak kısmet oldu 🫠 #dodgecharger #musclecar
🏁Those who know, know: my obsession with the Dodge Charger is probably on par with my obsession with cinema 💘 My love for film began with the car chases in New Hollywood classics like Vanishing Point, Bullitt, and Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, films that could completely transport me. In those chase scenes, there’s rarely any music; sometimes you just listen to the engine for ten straight minutes. As someone who has always linked the sound of a car engine with the sound of a projector running, the Dodge Charger came to hold a special place in my heart. Death Proof later brought this extraordinary car back to the screen once again. The other day, I finally got to meet IT in person. #reklamdeğil

〰️ Zeynep Dadak & Çiçek Kahraman’s video essay „Weird Absurd Whatever“ reflects on the absence of their friend, filmmaker Çiğdem Mater, imprisoned since 2022 as one of the Gezi trial defendants. The film treats rehearsal itself as a form of resistance – an unfinished, provisional space where dialogue remains possible. Imagining Çiğdem Mater as an artist whose freedom has been restored becomes both a meditation on cinematic solidarity and a refusal of erasure.
〰️„Live Eyes“ by Ali Miharbi isolates the most fleeting yet telling detail of televised politics: the eyes. Using software with face detection algorithms, Miharbi extracts – from a media landscape thick with surveillance, disinformation, and scripted outrage – the gazes of anchors, politicians, and commentators from real-time Turkish broadcasts, magnifies them, and releases them into silence.
〰️ Commissioned by SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA, „Ein neues Wort“ by Cana Bilir-Meier builds on a 1970 competition in West Germany searching for an alternative to the term “Gastarbeiter” (“guest worker”). In Munich, a choir of former labor migrants of Turkish descent draws inspiration from the more than 30,000 submissions and develops its own musical interpretation. This new film will be looped with her 2013 film „Semra Ertan“ about her aunt who was born in Turkey and joined her parents in West-Germany in 1972. She worked as a construction draftswomen as well as an interpreter and wrote over 350 poems. In 1982, Semra Ertan set herself on fire as a sign of protest against racism in Germany.
