Okarin and Kirusu invented the time machine and they started to experimenting on it. They wanted to publicize but SERN didint want it to be announced. And then the SERN wanted to kill them. in August 13, Mayuri was killed by SERN. Okarin tried to save him again and again with his time machine but couldn't succeed. He had to go to the beta world to save her. But he couldnt do it too. The only person who could go back in time was himself.
For this reason, he took all the pain himself. After trying hundreds of times, her death meant nothing to okarin anymore, as he saw Mayuri die every time. He had lost his feelings now and at the end he gave up in despair.
