@zero_mentality_hc – In Fear of Forever
Dat Ding kam 2005 raus und hat direkt klar gemacht: Ruhrpott Hardcore kann mehr als stumpf nach vorne prügeln. In Fear of Forever war schon damals ’ne verdammte Ansage – und ist heute, fast 21 Jahre später, immer noch eine absolute Ausnahmeerscheinung. Während andere Bands sich im Beatdown-Sumpf oder im staubigen Oldschool-Korsett verheddert haben, sind Zero Mentality einfach ihren eigenen Weg gegangen. Rockiger, kerniger, härter im Kopf als im Proberaum-Gewalze.
Hier gibt’s keine eindimensionalen Mosh-Kommandos, sondern Songs mit Rückgrat. Riffs, die hängen bleiben. Grooves, die drücken, ohne peinlich zu posen. Dazu Texte auf Englisch und Deutsch – kein Trend, kein Kalkül, sondern einfach authentischer Ruhrpott-Wahnsinn mit Hirn und Haltung.
Und das Krasse: Die Platte ist heute immer noch komplett hörbar. Kein „ja, war halt damals geil“-Bonus. Die Songs zünden genau so wie 2005, der Sound ist immer noch ’ne Wucht und ballert dir die Lauscher frei, als hätte ihn jemand gestern aus dem Hochofen gezogen.
In Fear of Forever ist kein nostalgisches Hardcore-Relikt, sondern ein verdammtes Zeitdokument, das sich weigert, alt zu werden. Eine Scheibe, von der man in 20 Jahren seinen Enkeln erzählen wird – mit glasigem Blick und dem Satz: „Junge, das war Ruhrpott Hardcore.“
Zero Mentality waren nie angepasst, nie egal, nie austauschbar. Und genau deshalb darf so eine Band niemals sterben.

Am 30.12.2025 war wieder im @dontpanicessen Der Pott Bebt mit Lies!, Life Beyond, Zero Mentality, Skullhammer, Out of the Blue und Born from Pain. Da leider durch kleine Verzögerungen der Auftritt von Born from Pain sich etwas nach hinten verschoben hat, konnte ich sie nicht Fotografieren da ich zum Zug musste. Es war trotzdem ein schöner Jahresabschluss mit vielen Freunden und guter Musik.
