Right here we go then: very happy to announce the launch party for TRAV, and to say that the book is now available to pre-order 📙 All the event details are on the next slide, so let me just say that I can’t think of anyone I’d rather chair it than @clivejudd & Voce. Rest assured that this will be a party as well, though, and that the iconic @thenightowlbham will be looking after us in that regard. (Special shoutout to my pal @tmdubz1 for DJ’ing, too.) 🔗 The links to everything will be in my bio and on my Linktree, but I would kindly ask that if you do want to buy the novel, you’d consider buying it from @vocebooks as a first port of call, for all the obvious reasons. If you can’t physically buy one in store, please email [email protected] to place an order. You can also do what you want, so know too that TRAV is available from all the usual places. If you do want to come to the launch, you can buy a book with your ticket at a slight discount 🪩 Anyway, I would really love to see you all there this summer, especially because we worked extra hard to make sure this didn’t fall on the day of an England World Cup game 🏆

Welcome to the treacherous peyote desert of national security realism, a surrealist wonderland if ever there was one. My use of the term national security realism calls back to and builds upon Mark Fisher’s conception of capitalist realism as a postmodern colonization of the cultural dreamscape. Capitalist realism can be understood as part of what Gilles Deleuze recognizes we have become since World War II: a “society of control” in which the “family, the school, the army, the factory are no longer the distinct analogical spaces that converge towards an owner – state or private power – but coded figures – deformable and transformable – of a single corporation that now has only stockholders.” Read on in Surrealpolitik from Zer0 Books

I’m very excited to reveal the cover for TRAV 📙 as well as announce that it will be released on the 30th June, 2026 🗓️ More concrete details will follow as regards purchasing and the launch party, etc. — both of which will be led by @vocebooks — so for now let me just show off the work of a few involved so far, starting w/ the nonpareil @blackcountrytype who provided me with the photograph and font for the cover, going above and beyond in terms of informing the whole design of the outer book. As soon as I met Tom and saw his work, I knew I wanted it for TRAV — the ghost of working class architecture lit up by bright pops of colour because not everything has to be grey and dark and dingy round here. And those lampposts, essentially the same but splitting off in different directions like the characters of the novel. I had to have it. From there, @zero.books ran with Tom’s blueprint and produced what you see now. My thanks to everyone at Zer0 for their brilliant work, and a special mention to @tristamadams as the man who most shaped what will be between these beautiful covers. Thanks also to @ahicksonlovence @npadamsee @beardalan182 & @clivejudd for their words on my writing. It means more than I can covey here. I started writing this book in 2018 but really it all started in 2004, so to finally see it ready for release now feels as mad as it does right. The book is a true labour of love and, as the attached song states, love takes miles.

Is it inhabited? This question makes the shared stakes of science fiction and colonialism obvious, wherein the wide imaginaries of empire and what counts as life — scientifically, ethically, politically — and the moral and technological possibilities of terraforming and the impulse for exploration are all fused. Out now!
