Closing Performance — “Choreographic Place” is hosting their closing performance this Sunday, March 15th, from 11am - 2pm. Don’t miss this incredible last chance to view this show! ✨
Choreographic Place is an exhibition program presented by Bridge, premiering at the Evanston Art Center, that explores the evolving relationships between dance, sculpture, movement, written choreography, and civic space through the framework of William Forsy the’s notion of “choreographic objects.” Bridge collective members Michelle Kranicke, David Sundry and Michael Workman seek to expand the definition to architectural or sculptural forms designed not simply to occupy space, but to shape how bodies move, and behaviors may be regulated within it, how choreography is written and read, and how movement is negotiated collectively in shared environments. The Evanston Art Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to inspiring art education, exhibitions, and expression for all. All galleries are free and open to the public.

Final Reminder: Join us for an artist talk / panel discussion this Saturday, March 7 at 1 PM at the Evanston Art Center in conjunction with Choreographic Place, an exhibition program curated by Michael Workman, with Michelle Kranicke and David Sundry and Joseph Ravens.
Choreographic Place explores the evolving relationship between dance, sculpture, movement, and written choreography through the idea of the “choreographic object,” a concept associated with William Forsythe and expanded here to include architectural and sculptural forms that shape how bodies move through shared civic space.
The exhibition brings together David Sundry’s large-scale sculptural dance environments, performance activations with Zephyr Dance and collaborators, and text-based choreographic scores by Workman written to guide visitors in navigating and interacting with the installations. The project also launches "Instructions for Living," an artist's folio of performance scores.
We'd love to see you there.

in a quieter way: refusing acceleration a durational performance by joseph ravens
the installation is a living archive and the body serves as a temporary index. a figure moves slowly. marking and unmarking. making and unmaking. inhabiting negative space. extending and fragmenting across rigid structures and elastic time.
duration is the spine of the work. repetition makes time visible. transformation emerges quietly because the action refuses to hurry. accidental viewers catch fragments, moments, and shifts that would otherwise go unnoticed.
grab a coffee at one of the charming cafés nearby and sit with the artist for a while to watch the work unfold over time.
