For his final-year project at Sultan Abdul Samad Vocational College, Malaysian designer @tiftazani.my turns to Bombyx mori, the silk moth, as both muse and metaphor. The collection, titled “Mothsery,” traces the full arc of metamorphosis: from silkworm-inspired silhouettes with pintuck collars and ruched raglan sleeves, to modular pleated skirts and cocoon-like puffer capes that echo the protective layers of silk. Glass bead embroidery maps the delicate veins of moth wings, while wing-inspired drapes and a detachable train mark the final emergence. Scrap and thrifted fabrics are woven throughout the project, including recycled faux fur and a skirt constructed entirely from used materials layered with French lace, bringing sustainability into the narrative of transformation.
