The garden gives back.â
â
Alongside restoration work, our Perma Plot continues to supply fresh produce to security teams and livestock staff, linking regenerative agriculture directly to daily wellbeing.â
â
This month alone, the garden provided spinach and kale to teams working across the conservancy.â
â
Food systems, like ecosystems, depend on steady care.
With over 1.8 million trees planted, the Tree of Life initiative is approaching a major milestone, one that reflects years of steady, collective effort.â
â
Each planting season builds on the last, restoring degraded land and strengthening ecological systems across Segera.â
â
Restoration happens step by step.
A foundation built on love.â
â
Across the communities surrounding Segera, mothers play a central role in supporting their families.â
â
Through initiatives such as the SATUBO and Nyuat Segera beading collectives, these women often support entire households.â They are the glue that holds their community together. As one mother shares:â âThis work helps me provide for my children and support their education.ââ
â
When women are celebrated, families are strengthened.
Building for the future.â
â
Structures taking shape. Progress underway. Construction is progressing at SATUBO Kindergarten, where a new staff bathroom block is being developed to support the growing school community.â
â
Excavation and brick lining of the substructure have now been completed, marking an important step toward completion.â
â
Investments in infrastructure like this help create safer, more supportive learning environments for both students and teachers.â
â
Strong facilities support strong learning environments.
We're prepping for the next season.â Seedbeds filled. Crates potted. New growth underway.â
â
Focus has shifted to seedling propagation and nursery expansion at the Permaplot.â Recent efforts include potting 135 crates, sowing new seedbeds, and expanding nursery capacity to support the next planting cycle. Current stock now stands at over 133,000 seedlings ready for future restoration work.â
â
Preparation today supports restoration tomorrow.
During the school break, students, parents, and mentors gathered. Conversations were shared. Expectations were set.â The air buzzing with energy. Everyone can feel that this is the start of something beautiful.â
â
The mentorship session marked the formal welcome of eight new bursary students entering senior secondary school. They join a growing group of supported learners reinforcing the partnership between students, families, and the ZEITZ foundation. Welcome students and thank you to our donors for your generous support!
â
Earth Day.â
â
A moment to reflect on the systems that sustain life, and the responsibility to protect them.â
â
Guided by the 4Cs: Conservation, Community, Culture and Commerce, the ZEITZ foundationâs work is rooted in the understanding that healthy ecosystems and thriving communities go hand in hand.â
â
Today is a reminder that restoration happens through long-term, collective action. Healthy ecosystems sustain us all.
When the rains arrive here something extraordinary happens. The earth opens up. And we plant.â
â
Hands in the soil. Rows of seedlings taking shape across the landscape.â 60 women from across the community, planting thousands of trees in a single week across key restoration zones, including Kambi Ndege and Bullboma.â
â
That's over 127,000 seedlings planted this year, and the total number of trees planted to date through the Tree of Life initiative is now more than 1.8 million.â
â â
This is the Tree of Life. Restoration built root by root. Tree by tree. â

A new generation in training.â
â
The newest members of the anti-poaching K9 unit, Harley, Daisy, and Gypsy, are now over two years old. Born on 16 December 2023, they are still undergoing training to fine tune the skills needed for tracking, detection, and field response.â They have already helped solve cases across Greater Segera earning respect from the community and the rangers they support. â
â
These energetic bloodhound puppies will grow into something extraordinary: guardians of this land and protectors of the wildlife and people that calls Segera home. â

What started as a shared skill has become something far greater â a collective that turned an ancient craft into independence, income, and peace. â
â
The 60 women in the Greater Segera community beading collectives are aged between 22 and 75. They are Grandmothers teaching daughters. Daughters teaching sisters-in-law. Neighbours learning from each other.â â
â
And when you hold something made by SATUBO and the Nyuat Segera Beading Collective, you can feel that every piece carries that story. â
