Tucked away in the heart of Zamalek, El Zohreya Park is one of Cairo’s hidden green gems — a tranquil escape that has quietly held decades of stories beneath its lush canopy. Once a cherished retreat for locals, the park recently faced the threat of closure, its future uncertain amid rapid urban change.
In a bid to celebrate its timeless charm and draw attention to its fading presence, we brought the funk to the garden — literally. Cairo-based music collector Zeft Funk transformed El Zohreya into an open-air stage, blending sound and nature in a tribute to a place too beautiful to be forgotten. The resulting set captures not just the groove of the city, but the spirit of a space that deserves to be preserved.
This is more than just a park — it’s a living memory of Cairo’s past, and a symbol of what we stand to lose if we don’t stop and notice.
