With a background in architecture, I’ve always been drawn to structure, form, and detail. What began as a lifelong talent for drawing eventually evolved into a passion for painting — first as a hobby, then as a defining part of my creative journey. My work bridges the precision of architectural design with the expressive freedom of abstract art. I like to describe my style as architectural citadel in abstract — where structure meets imagination, and every line and layer tells a story of space, balance, and emotion. It’s such a simple yet profound truth. Artists don’t just fill galleries; they transform entire neighborhoods. They see potential in the “rattiest” areas, bring order to chaos, and teach the rest of us how to perceive beauty where we didn’t see it before. They literally make the world a more beautiful place, one street at a time. And then gentrification kicks in and things change. Marcel Duchamp stands as one of the most influential pioneers of modern art, forever shifting the boundaries of what we define as artistic expression. In this rare footage, he offers profound insights into his philosophy and the transformative power of creativity. „I believe that art is the only form of activity in which man, as man, shows himself to be a true individual and is capable of going beyond the animal state. Because art is an outlet towards regions which are not ruled by time and space.“ Filmed amidst the Arensberg collection at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This 1956 interview features Marcel Duchamp in conversation with James Johnson Sweeney, former director of the Guggenheim Museum. * This video is for educational purposes only. #MarcelDuchamp #ArtHistory #ModernArt #guelmemis

@banksy The sculpture portrays a man in a suit stepping off a pedestal, his face obscured by the flag he carries. It is situated in Waterloo Place, St. James’s—a setting historically crafted to honor 19th-century imperialism and military power, The piece stands in close proximity to monuments dedicated to Edward VII, Florence Nightingale, and the Crimean War. “I consider myself a woman artist: I’m a woman who draws and paints - specifically women. Who explores the landscape of the female body who strives to portray woman as they are, not how we are traditionally expected to be. Who has learnt, drawing women through my life, that sexuality and sensuality are not to do with ‘thin-ness’ or perceived notions of ‘beauty’ but to do with what comes from within a woman. Herself, her movement quality - who she is - not how she looks. I have not however considered myself a commercial woman artist. This is the distinction I make here and it’s forced me to ask - why? Why don’t I? I’ve used excuses like - ‘figurative work is unfashionable - it doesn’t sell! I’ve used facts like - I don’t do my work to sell it, I do it because it is my chosen form of expression and essential - for me. And I sell quite well and I’m lucky and I promise myself I won’t compromise and allow selling to motivate me or to start doing work - just to sell it. @lorien_haynes @women_in_art__ @womeninartprize__ Available work @zebraonegallery #womeninart #womeninartprize
