BIG NEWS!! I’m so proud to be able to share this with you. Last year I met one of my all time favorite drummers; Danny Carey of Tool, and I got the chance to build a custom snare drum for him. He got it this week and he was totally impressed!! Took me about a year to build this one, this is a very special drum. It’s made from ultra hard Curupay, which is a South American hard wood.
I wanted to design and make my own lug, which is something I wanted for years now and was already working on a design. This is the very first drum with this lug. But more about that later! It also has an extra custom badge on it for Danny. Specs of this drum:
-14”x8”, 13mm finger jointed stave shell
-Die cast hoops
-FLEX tube lugs (more about those soon!)
-Die cast hoops
-Additional custom badge

THE NEW FLEX TUBE LUG!!
Here’s the official introduction of my own new lug (only available at Zebra Drums)!! Very proud to finallly present these to you. It’s been quite a few years to develop these but I’m really happy with how they turned out. The idea was to have a machined lug with a flexible insert, and that prooved to be harder than I thought. You will see these mounted on my snare drums more often until I reach the point that my stock of the old lug runs out. These will only be available in chrome plating at this time.
With these 3 different sizes I can build virtually any size.
Also I’m proud to say that these are entirely made in Europe. I prepare them for chrome plating myself and the plating itself is done locally. Assembly is done 100% in house.

14”x8” CURUPAY EDITION!
This is the very prototype I used to build Danny Carey’s snare drum. With its own unique badge this is a very special drum. Together with this free floating London Plane Tree kit it sounds pretty fantastic!! What do you think?

BATTLE OF THE 8THS!!
Here is a showdown of three 8” deep snare drums I have in stock right now. On the left a 14”x8” Mahogany which I tuned very low just to show you what it can do. On the far right a 14”x8” London Plane Tree in Bright Red stain. Medium tuning for this one and it sounds sweet. And in the middle the 14”x8” Pro Artist Curupay edition Prototype.
