Today I had to say goodbye to my best friend in the entire world. I’ve always dreaded this day but knew it would come. Archie was a light for our family during some very difficult times and knowing he’s no longer with us is a pain that is indescribable. Any time I used to visit the house, I’d stay in my room and he’d sleep in my parents room next to their bed. I’d always leave my door open a crack, because every time when I was about to go to sleep, he’d paw his way through and spring the door open to see me. Knowing he’s not coming through that door again has crushed me, but I’m so happy he’s no longer in pain and for the time we spent together.
