This is an overdue post.
I joined the Marine Corps at 30 years old after an already tumultuous journey through life; continuously convincing myself enlistment was not possible for me.
Along this path I had many different types of teachers, both humbling circumstances and concil from mentors. Nothing would compare to the training and leaders I would encounter in the military.
I was meritoriously promoted to Corporal in July 2024. The milestone of becoming Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) is not taken lightly. I am so grateful to those that supported me.
It has taken some time for me to opine on what it means to be a leader. From guiding others, pushing them to be thier best, making decisions when you don’t have all the information & be willing to make mistakes then get back up to move forward; Taking responsibility not just for yourself but for the actions of your team and leading from the front. These are just a few traits of a great leader. It’s a tapestry of cultivating trust through altruistic choices and forging ahead.
