Turmoil has been officially selected by the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF) — one of Canada’s most recognized multicultural and diaspora‑focused film festivals, and a Canadian Screen Award–qualifying festival.
This one hits different.
TINFF is a place that sees people — not budgets, not polish, not industry rules. They champion stories born from lived experience, from diaspora, from pain, from healing. They take chances on films that don’t fit the mold. Films like ours.
We made Turmoil with a 3‑man crew, no script, and real veterans reliving real trauma. Every frame came from a place of honesty, fear, and trust. Nothing about this film was easy. Nothing about it was safe.
To have a global jury look at that rawness and say, “Yes. This belongs here.” That means more than any award ever could.
Thank you, TINFF, for seeing the humanity in a film built from real lives and real wounds. And thank you to the veterans, nurses, and friends who carried this story with me.
This selection is yours as much as mine.
