My career in music would quite simply not have happened if @kelly4delly hadn’t come along. Long nights, feast or (lots of) famine cycles, and constant uncertainty are no match for the stability I feel when we’re together.

The Loudness War is still on, but not everyone is in the ring 🥊

I looked at the @beatport Top 100 from August 2025 to find some recent trends in dance music production. Most of the tracks were considerably loud in the range of -7 to -9 Integrated LUFS.
Instead of blindly aiming for that loudness range, I’d recommend considering the arrangement of your song and the contrast between the quiet and loud sections.
And more generally, does the extra limiting actually make your song translate better, or is it just louder for the sake of being loud?

For me, mastering is a series of small changes that help a song reach its full potential.
@hlwamusic and @dj.romar sent me an amazing mix with great vocals, so I got to focus more on “enhancement” than “cleanup” ✨
A mid-side EQ like the @brainworxaudio Digital V3 allows you to isolate different elements of the mix without significantly shifting phase. In this case it enhanced the clarity of the vocal by tightening up the bright reverbs & delays on the sides, while focusing the high end with a boost in the mid channel.
And for a multiband stereo widener like the one in @izotopeinc Ozone, you can add width to create a more “enveloping” feel but I often like to decrease stereo width to help focus the impact of transient-heavy sounds like hats and claps 💥
