The Space Between is a showcase of photos taken during my last visit to Hong Kong alongside select photos from my family collection. Hong Kong is home for much of my family, but personally this “home” felt like a liminal place: familiar but still foreign; a beautiful place I don’t quite fully understand. So, I’ll hang here for a while and look at what’s in front of me—it’ll all change soon, again.

i come naked: once again, reading Clarice Lispector sent me somewhere far and within—might it be a short burst of hypomania? afraid i might be calling it (whatever this is) by the wrong name—it remains a mystery & unimportant anyhow. there’s a point to this: Mik says this book is manic; i asked her if she thinks emotional transference is possible through reading. “maybe.” i’ve been taking risks at night, on the road, eating cheese and crackers to break fast, making things i’ve never made before. everything feels so instant. it feels like the first rainfall after a drought. i am sitting in a pocket right now.
poets write on impulse & van gogh painted to cope; surely there is a fire inside that keeps their spirit alive.
