Introducing @yussico , one of our talented brands based in our #LondonMadeMe shop in @batterseapwrstn 🎉
Yusuf Osman is a lawyer turned leather craftsman on a mission to help the world experience and connect with materials and craftsmanship. He is based in the in the @shapeslewisham New Cross and Deptford zone.
His mission stems from his own journey transitioning from lawyer to leather craftsman. Yusuf was captivated by leather during a weekend course in the The Cotswolds in 2014. In turning his hobby into a business, he grappled with two questions - how do you start a business making products when the world is drowning in stuff and how do you start a business using leather because surely it’s the worst material in the world?
It took many years of crafting and learning, but with each stitch Yusuf realised that the problem isn’t making or leather - people have always been making things and using leather as a material before we invented woven cloth. Leather is the only material that connects farm, food, fashion and beyond and the craftsmanship is a panacea for our throwaway culture.
Yusuf believes that many of the problems we experience today as individuals, communities and with the natural world are result of our loss of knowledge around craftsmanship and materials. The problem is the speed at which we make, the removal of craftsmanship and a decline in material quality. Reconnecting with leather and craft can help us to navigate the complex issues we face as individuals, as society and with the natural world. In doing so we can uncover the threads that connect us all.
Don’t miss Yusuf’s bold, colourful and lovingly crafted range that is all made with a greater purpose 🌎

Corproate veganism and vegan leather is a scam. Whether it's made from plastic or has plant based additives. In my mind it’s fast fashion. Here is an example but I'll do more videos about the nuance on this subject if you're interested but let me tell you they are taking you for a ride

From the moment we are born, we are trained to pick and then fixate on outcomes. To put our blinkers on and move towards them. But what if the outcomes are not the outcomes? What if the journey itself is the outcome and if so, is it possible to use the present moment as your guide?

Few days left to apply for the @heritagecrafts@theleathersellers bursary. This is @amarpatelstudios who was awarded last year and we have been working together since that time to develop his skills. He is almost finished with his first backpack completely designed by himself, patterned, prototyped and now realising in leather all saddle stitched vegetable tanned leather!
Look forward to training more of you this year

Finding words from a place of connection. No edits. No filter. Nothing sped up. Just life as it happens
Process of shedding, coming back to self, connecting with self, coming back to leather but also developing art and excited to where that will lead. Emancipation from systems that seek to confine and define the artist 🖕
It’s my birthday and I am excited to share @leatherforkids is popping up at The Learning Fiesta - Parhay Pakistan with @itacecorg to celebrate the exceptional educational achievements by Pakistani Expats in the UK at @pakistanhcuk Pakistan Embassy, London.

No More Words
What do you say when,
you have no more words?
When no words could contain,
the life and times of another.
When no words could convey,
the life and times of another.
When no words could … pause.
When you know that,
all of the words,
would only betray,
a life that once was,
I’m sorry to say … pause.
I
have
no
more
words.
Martine exhausted all there was to say.
We listened to her, over the years,
and behind those words,
hid a soul,
trying so desperately to make sense of it all,
of herself and trying … pause,
to make herself understood.
But in the end, her words failed her too.
As she was in life, she left the world also,
by doing it …
absolutely and with no compromises,
Her Way.
