Hanoi Cup, the first PPA Asia event of the year, also coinciding with the one-year mark of me quitting my job at Vanderbilt Medical Center and forgoing the PhD route to start playing professional pickleball:)
Coming back from off season and first time playing the best players in the world in a couple of months, the excitement and nerves I felt reminded me how simultaneously intriguing and intense this level of competition is.
Exiting early 2nd round against the first seed Kate, and finishing quarterfinal in women’s doubles, it took me a long time to reflect and sat with the performance. There were lots of highlights and low lights to learn from. Very happy with some of the new weapons that were brought out in the competition, while recognizing there were several technical details could have gone better.
Bring an athlete means constantly learning and improving on my craft.Sometimes it’s important to understand that more works is to be put in despite of good results, and other times, being able to see the progress independent of results is equally important to me.
