💡 Did you know that 70% of young people in the UK don’t receive early mental health support when they need it?
This Mental Health Awareness Week, YHF, alongside other Young People’s Foundations ( @ypftrust ), is highlighting the importance of turning awareness into action.
We’re joining the call to take action, for yourself, for someone else, and for all of us, because lasting change happens when communities come together.

We came together in Camden today for a really insightful AI session led by Anick Akbar from Pixable.
As a team, we’ve tended to be quite cautious when it comes to AI. But this session genuinely reframed how we think about it. We were amazed at how much AI can support our work and the potential it can unlock for innovation and efficiency.
When used responsibly, with clear awareness of bias and ethical considerations, it can be a powerful tool to support our work.
AI won’t replace people, lived experience or professional insight. What it can do is ease the load of routine tasks that often take up valuable time.
Leaving the session feeling far more confident about how we can use AI in a thoughtful, positive way to strengthen what we do.

The Young BwD Foundation has secured £345,000 from the #iwill Fund, matched by local partners, unlocking a total of £691,405 to support youth‑led social action across Blackburn with Darwen. This investment will help young people step into leadership, build confidence, and create real change in their own communities.
What makes this powerful is the partnership with Youth Action, local community groups, the Council, and youth organisations across the borough, to amplify the youth voice. Leaders described the funding as “a significant vote of confidence in our young people” and a recognition that young people aren’t just participants, they’re the drivers of change.
Huge congratulations to Young BwD Foundation!

YPF Trust were proud to host a powerful two-day Inspiring Women in Leadership Programme in Peterborough for senior women across the YPF network. Facilitated by Sherrylyn Peck and Dr Sian Peer.
Over two days, we brought together inspiring leaders for reflection, challenge and growth, creating space for honest conversations about leadership, ambition, barriers and balance.
This dynamic and empowering programme is designed to support women at every stage of their leadership journey, particularly those who are:
· The most senior leader in their organisation
· Currently in leadership and seeking growth
· Committed to personal development and strengthening their networks
Some of the topics we explored:
· Navigating senior leadership transitions
· Understanding the evolving systems leadership landscape and stepping confidently into influential and political spaces
· The value of women in leadership
· Celebrating the unique contributions women bring, challenging stereotypes, and championing inclusive leadership
· Personal journeys and leadership stages
· Recognising diverse pathways and tailoring leadership development.
· Identifying and overcoming barriers
· Addressing systemic and personal challenges
· Mindset and mental strength
· Cultivating growth mindsets, managing imposter moments, and strengthening emotional intelligence
· Prioritising wellbeing, setting boundaries, and redefining sustainable success.
There is something incredibly powerful about bringing senior women together in a space that is reflective, strategic and ambitious.
This morning YPF Trust hosted an online session with YPF members, featuring an engaging discussion with Kayleigh Wainwright from Department for Culture, Media and Sport. She provided direct insight into the rollout of the National Youth Strategy and what it means for the sector.
Kayleigh shared findings from national engagement with young people, who said that while support with the cost of living remains important, what they most want are more in‑person opportunities in their communities, such as access to youth services, youth workers, welcoming green spaces and greater involvement in local events. She also highlighted that many young people feel unheard, unsafe, and disconnected, raising concerns about safety in public spaces, transport and online, alongside low trust in politics and limited influence in decision‑making.
Kayleigh noted wider challenges such as high screen time, high NEET rates, and the fact that one in five young people lack a trusted adult outside their family. These insights informed the 10‑year vision of the National Youth Strategy: ensuring every young person has a safe place to go, someone who cares, and a community they feel part of, with strategic outcomes centred on safety, connection, skills and opportunities, and overall wellbeing.
Thank you Kayleigh for your time and to all our members who joined the discussion this morning.
