Today I channeled my inner #butchdyke and put together a hand truck! I drove my pickup truck back to Brooklyn recently. Combined with this handy dandy hand truck I’m ready to tackle light moving projects and general hauling. It will also come in handy tomorrow when I bring my turntables and DJ equipment to @brandedsaloon where I’ll be spinning an all-vinyl set for #valentinesday. Today’s project: creating a swath of tranquility amidst a home filled with tchotchkes and bric-a-brac. I like mementos and treasured objects as much as anyone, but there needs to be a visual and practical respite. The curios around the house can still inspire curiosity, but the dining room table is now a statement piece that allows for a myriad of uses — from dinner parties to card games to a large project table.

This transformation happened in less than 48 hours… including sourcing the furniture on #craigslist and #marketplace! It’s still a work in process. (I am deciding on the final color scheme for paint) But in the meantime I have a bright, clean bedroom with a dedicated workspace and room enough for #yoga in front of the window.

This #wroughtiron #flowerbox holder got the Handy Dandy treatment in #centercity, #philadelphia. Part of a larger project to stage a charming #philly #rowhouse in advance of the realtor showing it to potential renters. The client asked for a mid-tier refresh, so I didn’t strip the old paint completely. I scraped old paint that was peeling and sanded it down. Where there was rust, I used a #rustreformer to prime the metal before painting it with #highgloss #rustoleum indoor/outdoor paint.

This porch in East Atlanta had been neglected and was in need of some TLC. With an afternoon of Handy Dandy attention it was transformed into a pleasant and functional space using items that were already there. It could still use a paint job, but this was a good interim step. 🧚♂️
